Heat/AC Controls?

Heat/AC Controls?
Hey guys. I've got question. During winter, while using heat, do you guys leave the auto on, in turn this leavs Ac compressor running, and gives more hot air, or do you guys out on auto off, like I do? In this mode, air is hot, but not as hot as if Auto AC was on. So guys, any insides on this topic. I did read the manual, but the way it is written, I really coudn't find the explenation for my question.
Thanks

Good question now last year I had it on auto.
This winter I have it off the heat temp set to about 78-80 & the fan speed on 1.

well the advantages of having the ac on with auto means that because it's on auto it can mix the cold and hot air to get your desired temp, and maintain it, and your car will defrost a lot faster with it on, you'll notice that your car will fog up if you are driving in cold weather with the ac off!!

My understanding is this : with auto on, then the AC/fan system is going to reach the desired temp (set by you) at max speed, so it will blow out more hot air than you requested; with auto off, then whatever the temp you set is what you will get. Anyone else ?

My understanding is that A/C needs to be manually turned on with the A/C button. Setting controls to auto only controls fan speed and temperature, but doesn't control the A/C compressor. The only way A/C turns on is if the button is used or if the defogger is on.
If A/C was on with the heat, then I wouldn't need the defogger at all!

Shoofin'TL, you are right about the revs. So, my question is this. If I will be driving with auto on all the time, the compressor will work all the time? Right? Then, will this eventually cause it to break sooner? I think that acura went over board with the heat/ac system. In all my previous cars I was able just to open the vents, without turing the fan on, and let the air just flow inside, while driving. Now, no matter what I weant to do, I'm forced to turn the fan and/or ac compressor.
Still, after 12,936 miles since last August, I love my TL

I have the Accord automatic climate control. I find when it is really cold, like it has been lately, you have to have the front window defroster, with the A/C on working. If not the front window fogs. Otherwise, its always in auto.
