Exclamation Headliner Rattle - I'm going nuts!!

I did a search and found a thread from AJAY who stated that he had a headliner rattle from right behind his head, but it didn't seem to have a resolution listed and I was hoping someone here (maybe AJAY!!) has fixed the problem.

When driving, I hear a constant plastic on plastic tapping like sound. If I press up on the headliner kind of hard, it goes away. It does it whether or not the sunroof shade is open or closed. I brought it to the dealer who said they did not hear what I was talking about, yet everyone else in my car hears it!!! I'd try to follow steps to pull the headliner down, but I have no idea what to look for. Has anyone resolved this problem??

Thanks a ton. I know this has probably been covered a million times, but I just can't seem to find an answer!

Get the service writer to send a mechanic out for a ride with you so you can show him what you're hearing and your findings. You'll pprobably have better success.

I think I had the same problem. The "rattle" was next to my left ear. The tech rode with me before I left the car. He ended up felting the little foam cushions between the healiner and the body on the driver side above the doors. I have no idea how to lower the headliner to get to these, but it was under warranty.

It drove me crazy before it was fixed. Good luck!

i had this same problem. i just used and old neoprene mousepad to fix it. i cut a thin strip and slid it between the headliner and the roof back by the back window, where the headliner stops as it meets the window. quick and easy.

havent heard the rattle since...
