headlight specs

Hey guys,

Since I'm lowered now I need to asjust my headlights, what are the vertical specs?
And as far a horizontal left/right how wide or narrow do they need to be? I replaced the driver side light and ballast due to condensation and the adjustment was way off so I leveled it with the passenger side but the light seems to be spread too far to the left compared to the right side. Is this because its a new light with better visibility? I tried adjusting it but I just couldn't match the old passenger side when it came to width

iirc the cheater method is park 3 feet away from wall- brightest part should be ~3 feet up wall! I use the garage door

after that--I go to a dark road,,you want the right side-pass side light to point ahead farther,, and slightly to the right- to pick up the road edge marking lines,,and pedestrians~

the driver side light needs to be down and in slightly-- so you dont blind oncoming traffic, and you want light on the area in front of the car to see the road better

If everyone hi beams you- yours are set too high

you know the trick about a + screwdriver to use the adjuster gears,,slide it down that V track on back of housing- when it meets gear,, rotate screwdriver
Direction is indicated on top of housing for up down

Make sure the housings are set right- there is some room around the bolts,,you can take up major amounts with those

If you are running 1 new bulb- buy another for it to match
the HID gas changes color and loses brightness with age,,so one is way weaker now

note New HID bulbs need about 50 hours `use time` to `burn in` and reach their full running ability
get used to driving with lights on in daylight to speed the process

Thanks for the help. They are the same bulbs just a new ballast. I'm going to replace the passenger side with a new assembly soon it just looks way too off. The assy are oem as well. The up/down level seems a lot easier to adjust compared to the left/right.

THIS!!! The dark road method is my favorite, gets better adjustments than any machine adjustment I've ever had. You can cover one of the headlights with a towel or something, do them one at a time, and exactly place each beam right where you want it. Point them just like he said for left & right. Then you can cover both the headlights and tweek your wide-angle fog light pattern to compliment your main headlight coverage.

And another quickie, pretty close way is to pull up to a wall with your high beams on. As you back away, the bright spots on the wall should stay in the same place. As 01tl4tl mentioned, you can tweak them both a hair right, and the driver one cown a hair. Personally, I only tweak the passenger side out a hair, and neither one down. I never get flashed.
