All I have to say is..."Can I see your license and registration sir"

You can probably get away with a tint of blue, but purple is a bit too flashy, and will probably attract unwanted attention/guests.

I got 6000K Philips Ultinon D2R's for my headlight. It's bright white with a hint of purple and I got my Philips D2S 4100K bulbs that have been rebased for 9006 for my fog lights coming in a couple days. They will look like the stock headlights. If would avoid going very purple and very blue, you are just asking for trouble.

I would try to stay away from an extreme purple also. I used to get pulled over all the time when I had my 91 Legend with diamond blue headlights.

i had 8000ks and now i have 12000k d2r hid bulbs. they are both very bluish white like start up on stock 4300k.
people say the higher the K the less output. now with my 12000k i aimed my beams up so now its comparable to stock. i know people will argue this but i can see the same amount of distance in front of me as i did with 4300k.

Anything higher than 6000K is just asking for trouble if you ask me. And once you get past 6000K, you really start losing "lumens" of light on the road. 4100K stock Philips or Osram bulbs provides the most light on the road and 6000K Philips D2S would be a close 2nd and Philips 6000K D2R a very close third. Of course, just my take on it since I've had stock and 6000K D2R bulbs. With D2S, you will lose your horizontal cutoff line, but it puts out a little bit more light since the reflector shield is not there. Some folks like the 5000K bulbs you can get since it is bright, bright white light. Haven't used those yet.

We offer our products in Blue, Yellow, Clear or smoked 20%, but if you want purple, I can get you deep purple. All I can say is you will get pulled over for sure and your lighting at night will be lavender looking. We have a show car here in town with the film on it. I think that is the only way he gets away with it. To and from shows that is it.

Oh btw, we are having a HUGE fog light protection sale right now, click link below for more details

I think you will be satisfied with Philips D2R 6000K Ultinon bulbs. I have them in my car now and they look really nice! They won't get you pulled over I don't think. They remind me of how Audi HID's look when the beam is near the cutoff line. Best way I can think to describe it. The Philips 6000K bulbs are Purple yet still white. If you want them a little brighter, get D2S style bulbs and make the notch at the base so they will fit in your housing. They don't have the powder coat strip on the bulbs like the D2R's. But, you will lose your cutoff line with D2S in a reflector based housing.

They clearly have more color than stock 4100K. As I mentioned in another post, at first I wasn't pleased with them because I thought they were too dim, but I un-did my fog light modification and they appear brighter now..not sure why since I know I did the fog light mod right. Plus, I will have my 4100K rebased DS2 9006 fitted bulbs for my HID fogs. Plenty o' light for me.

The higher the K the lower usable light you will have at night, so basically a stock 4100K would give you more usable light then lets say 8000K.

Are you aware that the TL has stock HID headlights? I can't understand why people refuse to leave well-enough alone.

Got3.2:

There are problems with your argument for 12000k HID bulbs and light output. Just because you can see the same distance does not mean the light output is equal. Distance and lumens/intensity are different things. A good pair of halogens will reach just as far as our OEM HIDs... but they won't be nearly as intense. And at nearly 3x the K-temp of factory, your actual luminosity is probably no better than high-end halogens. It is certainly not on par with OEM 4100-4300k HIDs in cars.

Just wanted to clear that up.

NOt sure what you mean? My headlights in that pic are just drop in 6000K Philips D2R bulbs for my headlights instead of the 4100K stock bulbs. Take fog lights out of the question. Stock headlights use D2R HID bulbs and stock fogs use 9006 Halogen bulbs.

I had the fog light mod to allow me to run my fog lights without having the headlights on. But, I removed the mod (unspliced the two wires) and it appeared to me that my headlights seemed brighter after that. Could be coincidence or just my imagination. But, if you put the same 6000K bulbs in your car, it will look like mine. Slight purple/Slight White, still plenty to see at night but not quite as bright as stock 4100K bulbs.

Make sense?

Oh yeah forgot..

If you want bright and distinctive fog lights, get yourself an aftermarket plug n play HID kit. I have an HID kit for my fogs with 4100K D2S Bulbs using a Techone HID kit. I had 3000K (yellow) HID bulbs, but had an issue with them, so I switched to 4100K bulbs. I want bright white light to shine immediately in front and to the sides of my car. So now, both my headlights and fog lights use HID.

I would not recommend going higher than 6000K in color temp for either one. It will just bring the cops on ya.
