Headlight issues

Well, I did some searching on the forums and found that we have a ballast problem with the 99+ TLs. OK fine. I just have a side question that's related, as I don't want to be replacing a whole bunch of stuff.

Before my passenger light went out, I think there was a short in the wire below the headlight cover (in the engine compartment). When it went out, I could wiggle it around a little bit and it would come on and stay on for a while (like 2 weeks or so). Then it would do it again, and I used the same remedy. The third time, it wouldn't come back on.

What exactly should I be looking at here? Jiggling the wire probably means it's bad wiring from the ballast to the ignitor...right? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Christopher.
