Just noticed that my driver side light has turned to a light purple hue. It takes it awhile for it to turn on at times. It also shuts off after a few minutes of driving. Called the stealership and they told me that it would be $140 for one ballast plus labor. Do I need the ballast or is it just the blub and can I do this myself? Please Help. Thanks in advance

 

Easiest way to know is to swap the bulb from the good side to the side that has the issue. If it goes away its time to buy 2 new bulbs. Always replace HIDs in pairs.

No, most parts stores dont carry them. Contact our Vendor Excelerate, he sells HIDs.

 

$140 for a ballast in CHEAP, if its new... they go for about $200. Also when you're moving the bulbs from one headlight to the other, make sure you have bulbs in both sockets when you turn it on to test, if it arc's you can burn out the igniter and the ballast and the igniter is almost $200 as well.
