Headlight concern! Igniter or Inverter? Or maybe even Ballast??

Ok so for a while my passenger HID has been having the problem of sometimes shutting off while driving but then coming right back on after i turn the switch off and on. Just now my buddy borrowed my car and flipped the lights on and the passenger HID wouldn't come on at all. I've been thinking it was a problem with the igniter and was going to replace it sometime later when i had more time and money, but now it seems like i need to do it soon. My question is does anyone have a good idea of whether the problem is really with the igniter or could it be inverter? I don't think it's the ballast but if i'm wrong let me know i'd appreciate it. And the bulbs are fine theyre stock 4300k, i think, which i replaced less than 2 years ago. (Already did a search BTW and didn't find enough to answer my question)

Well my buddy brought the car back and the HID is back on now... anyways i'd still like know what would be the problem for this if anyone has a good idea. Any mods feel free to move this to the problems and fixes section.

try switching bulbs from the left to the right and vis versa. if the problem moves to the other headlight that its the bulb, if it stays with the same headlight switch the inverter this time, and if no fix switch the ballast.

Like Rajca said, test each component (bulb, inverter, ballast) and see which one is causing the problem.
