If a thief really wants your headlights (or anything else for that matter), nothing will deter them. If they want it, they will find a way to get it. What you want to do is to make it so difficult that they will leave your car alone because it is not worth the hassle trying to rip your car apart for parts or equipment. The OEM alarm is insufficient in my opinion as it does not have any add-ons like shock sensor or motion sensor. If you are really interested in protecting your ride, get an after market alarm system. Alpine or Clifford are good name brands. Get shock and/or motion sensor to protect your lights. I would recommend a hood lock if you don't get a backup siren. Good luck!
