headlight ?

this is NOT NOT NOT about cleaning them.

in front of the reflector HID there is a plastic plate that is not clear, so i cannot see the bulb from the front.

here is the question.

a) does htis serve a purpose

b) can i remove it

c) what effect does it have on the beam of light if i do

thanks

a) yes, it directs where the beams go (beam pattern)

b) yes

c) your beams will not focus right

I forgot who did it, but someone on this board removed that diffuser when they cleared their headlights and said it messed up their lights because the beam was not directed towards the road, but rather scattered every which direction. I would just leave it alone because I highly doubt any company would make a replacement for something like that (as it is also very hard to install/change).

DON'T DO IT!!!

It is there for a purpose. The member that removed it regretted it so much that he had it put back on cause he can't see anything without it.

BTW, it's called the diffuser.

It's there for a purpose and by removing it, it will defeat the purpose. What's that old saying? Don't fix it if it's not broken??

I think it was Vdo who removed it. When you remove it, it's not as pretty as a car without a diffuser.

hehe this has to be the funniest thread I've ever read ..... but seriously, read up on how HID's work and then you'll realize the purpose of the bulb redirection

I don't think its that funny. He was just asking if he could remove the diffuser, he wasnt sure of what it did, now he does.
