Headers vs exhaust, where does the power come from?

I am wanting to put a few bolt ons on my '03 TL-S and have been reading that headers make a big difference on our cars, some folks say as much as 30 hp. I have read very mixed reviews about adding exhaust, some write ups say exhaust makes almost no additional hp with TL's, just a deeper/louder exhuast note.

If anyone has any first hand experience with headers vs exhaust as far as what makes power please pen your opinion.

Thanks, Giff

I have headers and exhausrt and let me tell you headers make a very noticeable difference while exhaust does not in the form of acceleration. I did feel a small SOTP increase in the high-end of my car, but not even close to what my headers did for me. my exhaust is more for looks and sounds and the sound is awesome!

You read right, exhaust is mainly for looks and sound and may add a little. The stock exhaust is very free flowing and is pretty much at the peak of its performance. The headers in fact do give the biggest increase in power on our cars, I seen dyno's where it adds up to 25whp. The basic bolt on's that most people do are: Intake, Headers, Crank Pulley, Thermoblock Spacers, and Exhaust if they want to. If you wanna go above and beyond, Supercharger is also an option.

Exactly what Pizaul said...I loved my car more once I got the headers and crank pulley put on and now I crave more power so the supercharger is lurking over the horizon.

You will feel the Power with the headers. You wont feel a thing with the exhaust. You read right
