alright jon here you go,two choices here you need to use that socket of yours but you also need either a elbow extension for the rachet or a cheater bar instead of a rachet.I'd go with going down to any parts or tool or hardware store and getting a elbow that goes inline with the socket and extension and rachet.
it allows you to get that perfect angle that you need on the nut.

sorry to hear your having such a hard time, hey where are you? I'm in ventura county.

FYI: Just got my OBX headers this weekend, but the gaskets were all creased/separated from the foam.

I sent an e-mail to Dailod, and he suggested getting OEM gaskets from Acura for abut $10. Those OBX gaskets DO look suspect.

This is a dumb question, but is the internal piping supposed to look kind of "dirty?" Did you use anything to clean it before install? Also, did you have to remove the OEM sway bar or anything to install the headers? Or did you do it from the bottom?

Thanks in advance.

it doesn't hurt to install a new set of gaskets. If you have a lot of miles on your engine and the old gaskets look worn, replace them. When I installed my headers, I installed the the downpipe to the cat first and then install the the upper ones to the engine. good luck.

So, how many miles did you guys have on your car to make you decide to reuse the stock gaskets?

Usually you replace gaskets any time you take anyhting appart. When you tighten down a part onto another part, the gasket crushes to form a seal.

question, with a completely stock setup, will changing out the header create any more noticeable engine noise, from inside, and outside? even with obx/comptech/stone?!?!

thanks

You don't really need to change the gasket. Just be very careful when removing your old headers and you should be fins. Inspect the gasket and make sure its in perfect order.
At the same time, why not just get new gaskets. Then you know for sure that it will be ok. I suggest getting copper gaskets. They're a little more expensive but copper will last longer.

You shouldn't notice more engine noise just from installing the Headers. What you probably will notice is that your car feels better...smoother will a little more zip on the midrange.

I'm working with my buddy to get my OBX headers and C/T CAI in tomorrow morning.

I have 28.5K miles on my car. I'm going to take a look at the stock header gaskets and see what kind of condition they are in. Otherwise, I'll just use the ones I got from the OBX package.

I went to Sterling McCall Acura today, and those guys are charging $17 PER gasket!!

Just thought that was kind of ridiculous. Or should I just drop the ~$40 and get them???

for the ones that installed the headers themselves....

Simple Q... where you able to put the pipe and headers together and then put it into place or do you have to put the headers on first and connect the Y pipe or..... pipe first then headers?

Thanks for the time....

What you have to do is connect the front and rear header first. Dont tighten the bolts. Hand tighten them just a little make sure there is some play with the front and rear header. tighten the A pipe tothe front and rear header and then tighten the a pipe to the exhaust. after everything is hand tighten go back and make sure everything is really tight. make sure you go back every know and then to make sure it said tight.. you dont want to have any leaks...

WOW! 6 hours later.... finally got the OBX headers installed. I had one nut that stripped, ended up going to SEARS and buying "Bolt-out"..... it was one of the bolts connecting the header TO THE main pipe, in the back (header w/ the OBX Racing Tab).

OBX Headers: Not bad looking, the bends were nice. I had to sand and polish down the insides, some edges were blocking the flow.....

Thanks for the posts! This forum is VERY nice!
