Head room

I have a quick question for all you TL owners. Do you feel you have adequate head room while sitting in the drivers seat?
I am not too tall. (OK, really short. Only 5'6") I have the darn seat all the way down and I feel like my head is about to hit the roof. I believe that I only have about 1.5 to 2 inches to spare between my head and the roof. Is this the case with anyone else?
Thanks for your replies.

I'm 6'5 and I fit fine. Although I have the seat leaning back quite a bit.

I agree with PreludeSHFan, I "broke in" the TL a few weeks ago, plenty of head room, and the leather cleans off easy. Now the seats really have "memory"

LOL...memories like....anyway i'm 5'10" and have no problems. There are so many ways to adjust the seat. For me it depends on how far im driving as to which way i adjust my seat.

In the 50s there was a car called the "Nash" that had front seats that reclined all the way back, like in our TLs.
The car quickly became notorius for that, kinda like zipper-fly jeans, 'cause people thought they promoted promiscuity. Some parents wouldn't let their young daughters go out with boys who drove Nashes. "I get all the gash with my Nash," etc. I think even an episode of the Happy Days sitcom had a reference to this phenomenon.
It would be funny if the TL gained the same reputation - "Gee, Betty Sue - he seems like a nice boy but he has one of those _dirty_ TL's. You'll be staying home tonight!"
On a related note, I got some once in my RX convertible. Yes, the top was down. We were at Lake Travis in Austin, the moon was out, and we were pretty well lit on KB.
(I don't do that no more, waaa) Anyway, a cop came by and spoiled all our fun. Oops!
I also got some in my old Prelude, which was fun b/c the girl was pretty short. Even so, her head was hitting the moonroof (bam, bam, bam, bam) and she was all, "Uh, Jason? My head!" 'Memory' seats...

FTM-1 Yes, the seat is all the way down. I even had some of my co-workers sit in the car with the seat all the way down. Their heads actually made contact with the roof, despite the fact that the seat was bottomed out to the max.
Perhaps I will have to have it checked out.

1. Who measured your height and what basketball team are you playing for?
2. Even if you take the sit out you'll still need to see the road ahead of you... maybe you just have a lot of bumpy roads in your area and the car jumps too much?
3. Just wondering if you are a bus driver or something... maybe getting into a TL after something much bigger leads you to complain about the head room? What were you driving before you got an Acura?

Just my 2 cents...

Well... couple things come to mind....
1. Who measured your height and what basketball team are you playing for?
Oh, I'm pretty sure I'm only 5'-6". I do not play for any basketball team. Heck, I'm probably too short to coach my son's team!
2. Even if you take the sit out you'll still need to see the road ahead of you... maybe you just have a lot of bumpy roads in your area and the car jumps too much?
Not too many bumpy roads here. Just smooth highway to and from work.
3. Just wondering if you are a bus driver or something... maybe getting into a TL after something much bigger leads you to complain about the head room? What were you driving before you got an Acura?
Nope, never been a bus driver. I used to drive a 7 series BMW and now drive a 3 series. There is slightly more head room in the 3. But then again there is slightly more up-down seat adjustment in the 3.
After it's all said and done it I'm sure I will get used to the seating position. After all what else is there to complain about on these cars? Overall we are very happy with this car.

Thanks for the advise. I will give it time.
BTW, if you think the windows are small on the TL, I would strongly suggest you never sit in an Audi TT. Those windows seem to be up around neck level. Holy cow, it's like drivin' a tank looking out a slit of a porthole.

5'11" and no problem at all, and yeah, I drive like those kids, but not that far back...

I'm 6'2" and posted about this same thing last year. When I first got my TL I felt like I was staring right at the sun visor and my hair (I've got a flat "do") was always rubbing on the roof. I've become used to it now. With the seatly partly reclined, fully lowered, fully back, and leaning slightly toward the opening for the moonroof, I'm A-OK. I do think that a sportier coupe style seat that's lower profile would be nice, but the TL isn't a coupe...I've gotten used to the sedan style now.

(1) Lean the seat back so you are situated under the moonroof
(2) Give it time, the seat cushion will become somewhat thinner over time.
(3) I have problems at drive-up windows because the window is so small. At least this means there is more door to protect you in a side impact.
