Have Radio Code...can't enter it!

Hi...(searched the forum...couldn't locate an exact problem/answer)

'99 3.2 TL 165,000 miles

Just got the car back from the body shop and the radio was inoperable awaiting it's code.

I found the sticker with the 5 digit code and I swear entered it correctly...hear a beep and now the display says COdE E. No radio, etc.

I turned the car off and waited about 10 minutes.

Radio display still says COdE E, and it will not allow me to enter any numbers.

I only tried once prior to the current display, and can't get past this error indicator.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Buzz

P.S. Nav system is inoperable, too, but not due to code failure...it's been dead for a few months...related?

Have you tried:

[1] Pulling the fuse and putting it back in. The fuse for the radio is located behind the dash panel on the passenger side. Open the passenger door, remove the plastic dash panel and the fuse you want to pull is the first fuse on the top left corner of the fuse box.

[2] Disconnect the battery (negative first then positive) and then reconnect (positive first then negative). This basically resets everything.

Good luck.

Sometimes you need to disconnect the antenna connector at the rear of the radio. I had to do that once on my TL.

Shortly after posting, we got in the car and fo some reason, the COdE E error message was gone and the 5 digit code entered correctly. Who knows?!!

I hadn't thought of that!

Can the collective AZine wrath now be directed towards my defunct GPS system?!!

im suprised no one address this solution yet.

you need to have the antennae cable removed, push in code, then place it back in.

same thing happened to me, i accidentally entered it wrong got the same code tried again and it wouldn't let me input, turned off the car waited awhile. still the code shows. then i just parked the thing and went out a few hours later and was able to enter it no problem. i think it might be a security feature that shuts down the radio for like an hour or 2 before it lets you enter the code again.

Read post #3 as your suggestion was already mentioned as per post #12.

Read Post #4 as it was solved already.
