I once had a maxima and the remote start did not work in the winter. Do u guys experience anything like that w/ur TL's?

My brother had the same problem with his maxima. The reason for the problem is in the winter sometimes the car takes alittle more "crank" to kick the car over. And the remote start only cranks for a few sec. and stops. So sometimes it misses. This happens sometimes on my 03 tl. But only when I haven't started it a while and its freezing out.

I've had a remote start on my car since July 2001 and haven't had a problem with it. Lucid4000 is probably right.

mine works fine...going on two years since I had my Viper 790XV installed...I'm using a 791 remote though.

Lucid has got the right idea...its related to how the RS is setup to start the car. Remote starters can use a variety of methods to crank the car (most models have more than 1 option). Some just do a timed crank. Some monitor the tach. Some use smart voltage sensing.

Some methods work much better than others. I don't have a lot of experience with installing these so I don't know which method is best. But this should help give you something to talk to a reputable installer about.
