i was just wondering if any of y'all had your tranny replaced under warranty, and then the tranny they replaced it with had problems too.... I have a 2001 TL and the tranny was replaced at around November, and lately when it switches between first and second, it feels kinda harsh.... maybe it's just me b/c i only had the car for 2 weeks, but is it supposed to feel like that....

Trannys repaired before Sept/Oct 2002 did NOT have the correct parts replaced and so the problem was never really fixed. One guy on this forum had the tranny replaced 4 times. The problem is a 3rd gear clutch pak. Acura hadnt figured it out until last fall. Before then they were installing refurb trannys which still had the old design 3rd gear. Now they replace every single component on the rebuilts. The also replace the ECU which they werrent doing prior to Sept/Oct. the new ECU prevents the car from upshifting into 5th at low speeds, which is not good for the tranny or the engine main bearing, and also the new ECU eliminated the 1/2 second lag in the shifts between 2nd and 3rd gear when in SportShift mode.

2002AcuraTL...Where did you get your information on the ECU differences (1/2 sec lag and 5th gear shifting) ? Is this factual information or is it just something a dealer said (I've noticed that my dealer just tells me BS when they don't know the answer)?

yes, i do..i had them to put in the second one..after no more than a week my scond was dead.so had them put in the third one in

BTW I lost my reverse gear on my second one~

It was my own observations. I drive alot (40k+ miles and my car is only 1.75 years old) I noticed the lag was gone almost immediately after drving my car home from the dealership. It had always been something that nagged me since the car was new. The same for the 5th gear thing. I would always drive in D4 except on the highway because of it. Not only was the lagging in D5 bad for the mechanicals, but i wanted torque when tooling around town.

i have a 2003 3.2 TL (i bought it in the beg. of may), and shifts between 1st and 2nd and 2nd to 1st seems a little too rugged. the car has about 3000 miles on it now, I haven't brought it in for any service yet.

anything i should be worried about?
