Has any1 ever red-lined

I love to race the feeble competitors..but 1 day i was on 2nd(best gear) I thought i changed gears, but i didnt and it redlined, it kinda stalled, not like cutting off, but the car didnt really move when i pressed the gas..So i put the car in auto, then in neutral, after a few seconds it went back. The question is, is this "really" bad, or just 1 of those things that happen?

You did nothing wrong...you just hit the fuel cut-off. Just don't make a habit of doing.

I touched it once on auto when I *floored* the car (that was the first time I hit VTEC). It shifted to the next gear automatically.

I ususlly dont, when i'm in SS mode, i shift at like 5500 when i'm driving furious haha, that way i get a little of the VTEC, cuz i'm addicted. i ususally dont redline unless i have to teach someone a lesson. which isn't a usual occurance. you know how it is, those civic hatchbacks lowered with the stock hubcaps and the fake altezza tails and the fog lights and fart pipe.. sometimes i just gotta show them whats up and how it is.

Ok so i'm curious now.... what would be a tell tale sign that your engine was in vtech "mode"...?? either in manual or in auto transmission...( other than adding that vtech LED in the FAQ....)

You feel a very slight boost and your engine sounds a little different than normal. You'll know when you open it up.

I've done it couple times before because I forgot to shift. I think it's a rev limiter, not a fuel cut-off...

VTEC

I actually feel a pretty big boost and the engine roars. I love it everytime, and with SS it just rules. To other people on the road the Acura may seem quiet and humble but when you need to open up a can of whoopa** that's where VTEC kicks in. It kicks in at about 4000+ RPM

To know more about VTEC, do a search you will definately find something since it was talked about numerous times.
