Hahahaha...nice try you Four Banger

Wassup guys,

so I was cruisin along highway 7 when this guy in what looked to be a stock 4 cyl. accord pulls up. It was the old body style so my guess was it was the 2000 coupe. Anyways I know he was 4 cyl because he only had the single exhaust. We pulled up to about 120 km/h (not racing) and he decides to launch it. So I let him pull on me by 2 car lengths while I was prepared in SS mode and had the car in 3rd gear. Anyways he starts pulling ahead, and I gradually push the gas harder and hard till I pass him at 140 km/h...it was as if he was at a stand still and I zipped by him...what a slow car!!!

Why would he try messing with a V6 VTEC engine? He has a 4 cyl non-VTEC (I think)...no chance in hell he's ever pulling on the TL-S.

nahhhh...he was definitely trying to test the limits of the TL-S. Cause when I passed him...I pulled about 3-4 cars ahead, and so he had ample opportunity to pull into my lane. I quickly got off at the next ramp (it was my exit) and he continued in his lane at about 130 km/h...he had no chance!!! He pretty much lost the minute he thought about racing!!!

Yeah I agree that unless the 4 cyl Accord had very extensive mods, i.e. turbo, he would have no chance against a TL, much less a TL-S. Some people just like to test cars that they really have no chance at hanging with. It's sometimes fun, I've done the same against Supra TT's and such. You might be more careful with the title of your thread, though. As I'm sure you are well aware, being a vet of this site and all, that both the Evo and STI are four bangers capable of beating any TL, regardless of mods, be it in less style of course.

I am NOT very familiar with the area, but my guess would be that you were closer to the airport side of Highway 7, in any case, the whole thread is sort of funny... the title, the vehicles involved, the attained speeds.

The legal speed limit on the highway, roundz where I drive is 75 mph ( 121 Km/h).... The majority of drivers are traveling around 82 mph (132 Km/h)... 3rd gear runs to a little over 100 mph (161 Km/h) in the TL... By the time you hit the shift into fourth gear, you are going mighty fast and then an s2000 and a whole bunch of other "four bangers" start passing you like you are stopped...

When you get to the twisty part of Highway 7, all you'll be doing in the TL is admiring the refined interior... Didn't mean to jump on your thread, but boasting about beatin" a "stock 4 cyl." accord in my book, is a

If it makes you feel empowered, however, more power to you, and may I suggest a Mazda Millenia, Toyota Camry or a Ford Taurus to race on the road next time... :-D

I'd take my word back on the toyota camry if i were you, at 268hp it will have a very good chance of pulling a 2002-2003 TL-S, i know because i've ownd both cars, even tough the camry was just for 1.5hrs, i've owned a 02 TL-S for about 1.5 years and it would be a tough match.
