H/R sport + Tokico Illumina

I've H/R sports springs already and I'm thinking about adding Tokico Illumina shocks. Anybody have experience with the above setup? I searched but there isn't much on this combo. I'm most concerned about the shocks dropping the car even more. Thanks in advance for the inputs!

I have that exact setup but have not installed it yet. I will let you know in the next few weeks how it turns out!

check out the thread "h&R sport vs neuspeed springs" or something like that....at the end a guy mentions that exact setup on one of his friend's rides.

I only had the TL-S for 3 months and no mod had been done to the car, however, I had Koni yellow with neuspeed sports on my accord for quite some time and I also had put neuspeed sports springs with Tokico shocks on her civic so I guessed I can give you the comparison.

The Tokico is generally a little harsh overall given the lack of adjustability. however it's not anywhere near to those after market "coil-over" system (ground-control, Tein(not the SS) I experienced)

The Koni I had did make a very big difference from the softest to firmest setting... I acutually did once set it to the softest setting and found out it had a better ride yet still provide better handling than the stock ride. Noth said.

PS. I heard that people like the Tein SS a lot too, I had never had any experience on that so I couldn't comment on it.

from what i was reading in a bunch of places, H&R combined with the Koni's will give you the best handling and the least harshest ride. i believe tirerack did this review but i cant remember. thats the setup i will be going with when i will replace the shocks

Bullshyt....DO NOT GET TOKICO's THEY SUCK!!!!!!!!!! They are soo goddamn stiff which causes an unbearably jarring ride. In my opinion...I feel that the KYB GR2's are much more comfortable and closest to OEM.
Do some more research...

Have that setup but not installed yet, if the ride is that much stiffer with the tokikos i might as well return em' now. How much do the koni's or kyb's run??

allright, i just got the H&R sports and tokico illumina's put on a few days ago. My initial impression is AWESOME. I absolutely love them. I didn't like all the body lean and weak handling that the TL has stock and I wanted to make my car handle more like my buddies Prelude. I succeeded. The tokico's are adjustable from 1-5 with 1 being the softest and 5 the firmist. I have them set to 4 and it is still not that bad. The ride is much less forgiving on bumps, but the handling is amazingly better. I think if you don't want to go as extreme as me, a 1-2 setting on the shocks should be very close to stock, but I have yet to test that. You have to also remember that once you get the springs, your never going to have as soft of a ride as you did stock.

any questions,
just email me at Cobrax420@comcast.net

I have a Eibach Pro-Kit and Tokiko Illumina set up on mine.
Yes, I have to agree that it rides hard on bumps but I just adjusted my driving on bumpy roads. But what dropped vehicle won't ride hard. on bumps - That's the trade off for better and safer handling.....
My wife hated the feel at first, but now she's used to it.
However, I love the stiffness and handling! I had a loaner '02 TL-P last month and I did not feel safe riding high and on the stock springs and shocks.
I have my settings on 3.

I found the illuminas on ebay for $369.00 plus $29 S&H. So $400 out the door.

I have to disagree. I have the Illuminas with the Eibach ProKit also. The "3" setting is not bad at all. "5" is STIFF. I lhave left the rears on "3" since I installed them but have never felt the need to adjust. The Koni Yellows are a better shock by far but I could not justify the extra $$. Go for the Koni's if you can afford them.

My comment was made under the consideration that the majority of you would not want to sacrifice overall ride comfort for increased handling. That was the motivation for my comment. All I am saying is that the KYB/H&R setup does not force the driver to accept a jarring and uncomfortable ride (bumps or not) in order to aesthetically and functionaly improve your car. However...the GR2's are not adjustable, but KYB does make an adjustable strut.
Just my .02!

i got tokico illumina, they are very good at the limit. they let the car grip away and only slide out a second before gaining its stance again. i leave it on 1 in front and 2 in rear. ride is not that great even at that setting but the handling makes up for it and then some.
