Talking GUNED IT for the first time tonight!

tonight, I took my mom out for dinner for mothers day, and I hit 1000miles!! TA DA can you say broken-in? On the way home, We hit a deserted freshly paved highway, and at a green light I decided to GUN IT for the first time! First I turned off trac, then I just slammed the gas pedal! the front tires spun out like crazy for a while(it had rained earlier in the day) then they caught some pavement and we were off! 80 came in no time, so I shut her down! I think I should have done this with traction control left on? anyways IT felt quick, and right at 5,000rpms, you get pushed back in your seat a bit more! can't wait to try this alone, without the extra weight!

soggy roads

u gunned it without changing the oil first? that kinda negates the fact that you were 'waiting' to gun it, doesnt it? I thought the point of 'breaking in' was to let all the little metal shards break loose and then u change the oil to remove em .. and THEN you have fun.

and what did your mom think?

make sure that you change your transmission fluid when you should... dealers says do it every 15000... this isn't just good for your transmission but when your transmission actually fails, it will help you get your warranty on the transmission (considering it breaks down during the warranty period) .. Acura isn't going to pay for your transmission when they kno that it hasn't been taken care of

I thought you drove it soft for like 600miles, then you were free to gun it? The manual sez, no full throttle acceleration before 600miles! I take this to mean after 600miles, its ok to be a little naughty My mom wasn't taken by surprise because I told her I would floor it! It felt sweet, and I would have launched 10x harder if the roads hadn't been wet. My dream come true will be to be at a red light when a v6 altima(auto) shows up to play!
