grounding points

i searched but didnt find what i was lookin for...

i made my own grounding kit using 4awg wiring and gold plated terminals yesterday... here's what I did:

battery > chassis
battery > tranny
battery > intake manifold
tranny > chassis
intake manifold > alternator

my question is about the last wire... the one that goes from the IM to the alternator... is it possible that it causes engine whine in my stereo?

I played my system before/after connecting that grounding wire and there seemed to be less engine noise when it was not connected... is it possible that the engine reving from the manifold to the alternator makes my system whine??

Would it be better if I grounded the alternator from the chassis?

Also, I have some wiring left, are there other points I can ground that I didnt think of?

I dunno... the IM is grounded to the battery, so i just grounded the alternator there so it's somewhat connected to battery... and to the IM.

i read about people grounding the IM so i said why not.. cant be bad to have better engine ground.. i've even seen TBs being grounded...

which points do YOU recommend?

My audio installer removed that last ground wire. He said is was useless. System sounds much better and the buzz I had is gone.

just replace the 3 main stock grounds - tranny to chasis and the 2 off the battery. I started a thread a while ago when I did this. Anymore and its just a waste and you will clutter up the engine bay

These are the ones I did. I can't really say that I noticed a difference, but it was a cheap easy mod to do so I figured why not. I used 4 gauge wire, gold plated wire terminals and Stinger Digital Battery Terminals like the one below. Looks pretty good, nothing special though.

No, it's not a voltage stabalizer...more of a volt meter. It just tells you how many volts are your battery has. Do a search on google for Stinger Battery Terminals and you should come up with something. I honestly can't remember where I got mine from. That one goes on the positive terminal and there is a solid one that goes on the negative terminal. It just replaces the existing battery terminals.

pics of stock ground points?

I have been searching on here for a while and haven't found any pics for where our stock/oem grounding points are so I am bringing this old thread back. I took a quick look under the hood and saw the one from the battery to the point behind the driver's side headlight. Where are the other stock ground points and how many are there? I am thinking about buying the 4 gauge wire and redoing my stock grounds. Also, what are some of the other good non-stock ground points if you want to do that?

Run a wire from back radio chassis ground to ground on your amp.

The post you are responding to is almost fourteen years old; I rather doubt your advice, however well intended, helped @snowman81.

But it could help someone else. Maybe not someone from this thread but maybe a google search or a forum search might lead to someone else being helped. @horseshoez
