Well, I've come up against a brick wall trying to figure out exactly what the specs are for the GPS. It's supposedly an Alpine OEM unit, but which one? Is there a model number that it comes closest to? On a related note, if it's from Alpine, why is the display nowhere near the coolness factor of the retail GPS units from Alpine? (e.g. http://www.alpine1.com/html/D2_n_1_n_n.html)

Some things I'm specifically trying to track down:
- Screen Resolution (and closest model # to retail Alpine displays)
- 8 Channel or 12 Channel GPS receiver?
- Firmware updates possible through DVD?
