GOT speeding in canada

I was travelling with 70k from Seattle to Vancouver on a trip. On US side the road sign was 70mph limit but once crossed the border the limit became 100km/h. Thinking it might be slightly lower than the 70mile, I reduced the speed sligthly.

But one stupid asshole cop jumped standing on the lane on front of me in less than 500ft and waved to stop and I was appalled to slam the brakes. Trying not to brake hard giving a hard time whoever is behind me I have passed the bullshit at about 30mph and slowing down but that asshole yelled at me to stop not to drive away.

sshole was so happy to give me an 198$ speeding and to make the things worst I was driving with 30day expired license and added 132$ to ticket. I told him that I hope you will die once I got a hold of ticket and drove away.

No I am wondering how I could remedy some of the fine amount. In washington state in us, there are 3 options, pay, dispute or negotiate. But on this one I got in British Columbia there only 2 of them, pay or dispute. From the sitaution, the beest option for me is to negotiate to reduce the fine, I wonder how it is done in Canada. I also wonder if the speeding in Canada will make its way into the DMV in USA. Anybody has experience in it. THanks dude, I hope you guy will not run into the dirty cops like those.

I got a ticket half month ago in B.C.

If you think you want to pay it instead of dispute but would like the fine reduced (too bad it's only CAD$25 less), you may pay it within 30 days of receiving the ticket. See the back of your ticket for more information. Good luck

well if he wrongfully stoped you, well you think he wrongfully stoped you, you can challenge the ticket and set a court date to meet with a judge. that court date is usually months from when the ticket happened and the cop will be called to meet with you and the judge. if he doesnt show up then both tickets will be thrown away. if he does show up you may have to pay the expired lisence one, but for the speeding you may not pay anything since you were going a little over 100km/h.
this is the case in Alberta but I dont think it would be much different in BC.

Wait.. Don't you have to approach Border Patrol Stations when going from U.S.A. to Canada?

100 KM/H = 62 MPH. Our speedometers show both MPH and KM/H. It sucks that you got a ticket, but you were also driving with an expired license? You could've prevented a couple of your tickets...

No pity for anyone driving on expired license, tags or no insurance
Then to not be able to read the 2nd set of numbers with the little kmh next to them....
Know the rules and laws of places you plan to travel.
Its like some states have motorcycle helmet laws and the next doesnt in the usa.

Hint: You cannot bring a big box of Cuban cigars back in the states with you either~

How did it go on return with US border patrol on that expired ID anyway?

happened after crossing border. They check for GC or US passport not state ID.
Well I know i had violated some law but the reason I am pissed is that the guy treats like as if he is treating criminal.

hahhaa to tell you the truth canadians dont like americans all that much so you are lucky he didnt write you some other BS tickets for no reason. my friend gave a middle finger to a cop once and he pulled him over and was checking his car for an hour, even wanted to see the windshied washer fluid level. and after all was good and nothing wrong with a car he gave him a ticket for "stunting". which is the same as street racing, doing burnouts and things of that nature. so concider yourself lucky he didnt shoot you hahaha

Its a very different culture and if you dont show respect for their laws and ways- just like anywhere in the world------

Why dont you go try that same thing in Mexico and see how well it goes over

^ And I thought the American cops were trigger-happy gun maniacs.

Seriously, years ago in Vancouver I had a Mountie running on foot into the middle of a major road to stop me.
I was going maybe 65km on a 50km open road with no traffic (3 lanes each side...it was a major road), but suddenly seeing a guy rushing in front of my car really scared me. I felt that the cop endangered both him and myself more with this stunt than I ever did by going 65km on an open road that's practically a highway in all but the name.

Anyway, I got a $100 ticket and no complaints about that, but I still feel that stopping a speeding car by standing in front of it is a stupid and dangerous tactic on the part of RCMP.

Curiously enough, I've never seen an American cop doing this.
They ALWAYS let the speeding car pass and then give a car chase.

sounds like you were caught at a speed trap!. they are very common here now, especially on the highways. the thing with the no license is your own stupidity dude, could have easily avoided that. the cops here are pricks, so don't even bother trying to dispute it you will lose. as for what myron was saying, about the cop not showing up and getting the ticket thrown out, it's a thing of the past. all cops are carrying cell phones now a days they just call them during your hearing. all you can do now is work some overtime and pay off the ticket!
