got into some races 2nite

What a depressing night I went out to the local races and was racing with some friends that I was there with and this is how it went:

race 1: it was a 4 lane road at a red light first it was my friend in his 94' civic coupe with a B18C (GSR) motor w/ I/H/E, a RSX-S stock, and me w/sri and exhaust......out the hole me and my friend are neck and neck and the RSX-S was about half a car infront I shift to second and my friend caugt up and is neck and neck with the RSX-S well whatever I stopped at about 85 and they had a solid 8-9 cars on me.....oh my friend with the swap won by half a car

race 2: me and a friend in a 00' 4dr civic with a B16 (SI) motor.......we started off at a roll at 25 mph 1,2,3 we are off we are neck and neck I shift to second and boom again he just pulled til like 80 he had about 3-4 cars on me

race 3: me and my friend with the 94' coupe driving his rental 02' or 03' maxima.......we start at a roll 1,2,3 were off and he jumped but still even if he didn't I would of still llost horribly he pulled about 4-6 cars on me he would of kepy on pullin but it broke down........hahahahahahhaahah yes it broke down he would puch it and the tach wouldnt move it was so funny

well whatever sorry for the long post just venting.....im gonna go spray some giggle gas and see if that helps

so what do you guys think......how are you other guys with 99's running

I'm running just fine. I made a homemade short ram intake out of PVC pipe. I simply love the 4 speed because 2nd grear is THE BOMB!! other 99 TL'ers know what i'm talking about. Sorry to hear about your losses... I am very happy with the speed of my TL and I think either your TL is running crappy or your not the greatest driver. You shouldn't lose to RSX's or civics (unless their heavily modified) and it should be a good race with the maxima. Racing maximas are fun but watch out they can easily catch you off guard and smoke your ass!!

Fortunately I have not lost a race in my TL yet! Don't know how long that will last but I don't try to race vettes or anthing crazy like that.

Maybe take your TL to get fixed?

If you read, you will see that he said it was a modded Civic with a Teg GSR motor, with intake headeres and exhaust. And an RSX-S will spank a TLP with just Intake any day of the week. A TL-S just hangs with it.

I'm sorry sir, but I bet to differ!! NO RSX, even the hype S can hang with, let alone beat me! I have an 03 TLP antracite metallic, and I'll **** on that 4 banger badly! They have NO TORQUE! the only reason slammed 99 tl lost could be because he lacks the 5 speed auto! I too have seen those car and driver acceleration numbers for the hype s, and let me tell you that they did an ultra abusive launch with that thing to get a 14.8!! revved up to 5 grand, then dumped the clutch, and got a lucky launch!!! To date, I've seen no high 14's for a stock or i, e, h, rsx-s at clubrsx.com!! Go ask them, all of them run mid to low 15's at the track!! well within my range! Plus all I have to do is shift to D3 and stump the gas to get a low 15, while they have to do an ultra abusive, ultra perfect launch to achieve the same results!

I have TLP with CAI and Pullies. Ive never lost to an RSX-S. Ive raced several with i/h/e and I admit I cant beat them by more than a car.

New Altimas on the other hand are pretty fast. On the freeway theres no chance. Same with the new Maximas.

Hey Slammed99TL, try racing without your Sport Shift. Its way faster. Just put your baby in 1st gear (D1). Press on your brake and give it all the gas you got. When its time to go, let go of your brake. You should immediatly take the lead on both cars ( unless your rollin on 19's ). Youll notice that your rpm's will go 6500 + then all have to do is move into 2nd gear. Its a really easy shift to the right, no risk of popping into neutral . Take 2nd gear as far as it will go then shift to D3. Its called gate shifting.

Btw I have a 2000 TLP so im not sure if the 99 is slower?

How about what I do: shift to D3, turn TCS off, hold the break with left foot, rev with the right foot, let go of break, and stomp gas simultaneously?

Will this yield good acceleration times? How good is doing this vs gate shifting?

You might as well put it in Sport shift if your gonna do that. The only reason I use gate shifting is because 1st gear in sport shift doesnt let me rev higher than 5800rpm.

Racing with D3 is not ideal because you lose much need RPMS in 1st gear, 2nd gear, and 3rd gear.

You must practice gateshifting. You dont wanna hit the rev limiter.

Most importantly when you shift from 2nd to 3rd you dont wanna accidentally shift into D4 or even neutral. Timing is everything.

1st: an RSX-S will eat a TL-P's ass with the quickness. even on the interstate. I raced type S with i/h/e on the interstate, we both had 2 passangers and i couldnt keep up.:o Edr0e i think the person you were racing simply didnt know how to drive...
2nd: how can you guys just beat the hell out of ur cars by holding the breaks and giving it gas. also by gate shifting. i could never forgive myself if i beat my car like that

I wasn't on my 19's that night .......damn tire wear

I am ordering an AEM CAI do you guys know if the #21-416 2 piece intake fits my 99 TL because people are telling me it wont clear something so can somebody clear this up thank you
