Got the driver's door side mirror hit...how do i fix it?
Alright..it wasn't actually me, it was my mom who was driving the car. Basically what happened was some guy in a toyota came real close to the car and somehow hit the side mirror with his passenger side mirror and basically ran away. I don't know why my mom didn't chase after the fuckin guy but apparently she was too shocked to do anything. By the time she came back to her senses, the guy was long gone... Now the side mirror is busted but the good news is that the paint all around it is completely fine. For some magical reason, nothing was apparently damaged except the mirror itself. The whole mirror assembly did bend forward though..but my mom bent it back...
So..how do i go upon fixing it? My mom brought the car to the dealership and they said that she would have to pay about $300 to get them to replace it..like they said you can't just replace the mirror, you have to replace the whole asssembly. Is that true? They said they would have to take the whole door apart and replace the mirror in that procedure... Does anybody have experience with replacing the mirror? What is the process and is it a possible DIY w/ OEM parts?
Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

same thing happened to my brothers car...what i did was bought a mirror off of ebay and went to a body shop and had them paint it...maybe u can find one off of ebay that is already your color...but thats the much cheaper route..its very easy to install the mirror (just a couple of bolts holding it on)

One thing to remember is that our cars have heated mirrors with something special on them (ever notice the blue hugh to them?) so it is important to replace them with a quality piece, sadly mostlikely direct from Acura (or a wrecked one).

If its just the mirror itself and nothing else is damaged, go to a auto glass place. They can replace just the mirror.
