Thumbs up Good trade in values for the TL

My 2000 with 17,500 miles was traded for $26,300 on the Civic when priced out at MSRP. That's only $2000 less than I bought it for 17 months ago. Keep all your original parts, my friends...

Wow, where did you get that? I went to dealers and they offered me 19-23k for my 2001 with Navi. So if you can direct me to a dealer in the Philly or NYC area that would be great.

I have 35k on my 2000. I would trade it in in a second if I got anywhere near that.

That's good to know.. I'm hoping to be able to either sell it or trade it in sometime later in the future for my next car...

Mine is a non-nav, BTW...

I traded in central PA. I don't think they want me sending anyone else there, expecting the same thing. I got a very good deal. You have to know what to do and how to do it, without making enemies.

If you got $26,300 for your 2002 TL that is HELL of a deal. What was the dealer thinking?? THe invoice on a new 2002 Premium is about $26,700.

Are you sure you posted the right numbers?

Einstein's deal seems too good to be true. Wondering if he really is in the US and is talking Canadian dollars! HA!

Cool

Yes, it's right Like I said, this trade-in was written up as if the Civic was sold at MSRP, so the trade-in value reflects both a discount on the car and a trade-in that I insisted upon.

Guys, Einstein's trade-in value is based on the Civic selling at MSRP. You know there's no way the Civic is selling at MSRP. Actually, according to Edmunds.com, they are selling for $200 over invoice, or at a discount of $1500 off of MSRP. Don't take this the wrong way, but it's just a numbers game. I got $24500 (actual trade-in value) for my 2000 WDP TL with Nav. Other dealers offered me $23000 for my car, but were willing to discount the Type-S more. All in all, the total loan came out to be the same.

The famous number game that the dealers play.

It's better to get the discount on the new car so you will pay less in taxes/ registrations/ etc.

If Civics can be readily had for 1500 below MSRP, then the true value of Einstein's trade in is 24,800 for those of you who can't count.

To me, that still seems to be an outstanding number - I hope I can do as well when I'm done with my TL.

What type of trade in can I expect for 99 w/nav with 38k miles? I have splash guard/wheel lock/wood shifter/matt. Is $21k reasonable or am I looking at $20k for 40k miles?

I am only hoping for $20K for my 99TL with 30K miles (NO NAV) to trade in for a loaded 2001 BMW 330i. More like hoping of course, since I have a feeling it's going to be $15K-$20K.

Give or take $1500 to $2000 to adjust for the Civic's full MSRP sticker that is still hell of a deal for a 2000 TL. Well done!!

If I were you I wouldn't mention the dealer's name otherwise half this forum will tearing down his door

Man, you guys talk about trading cars like stocks. I am more like Warren Buffet, I tend to buy and hold for a long, long time cause cars are such sh*tty "investments". Guaranteed to lose money the moment you buy it and roll that thing of the lot!
