Is this a good price for Coolant and Transmission Flush Services from the dealer?

A local Acura dealer is quoting me this:

Coolant System Flush Service includes:
-Inspect belts and hoses
-Top off all fluids
-Add Acura designed Blue coolant
Only $89.95

And

Transmission Flush service includes:
-Remove old fluid and dispose of per environmental regulations
-Renew fluid with Acura approved products
-Inspect for leaks and proper operation
Only $89.95

Is this a good deal? I rarely use any Acura dealer b/c I can do alot myself but since I'm so busy I want to know what you guys have paid for these services.

I know for sure that I'll need both of these services soon.

I think that's a rip off. I live in Houston, and I go to this place on Bellaire and Boone. They charged me $14 to replace the transmission fluid, and $40 for the radiator fluid. I had it done once when I was busy, but most of the time I do it myself. If you need more specific details, let me know.

From a Acura dealer, its a very good deal. Usually a tranny flush is about 160-190 at the dealer.

KevTL-S i highly doubt you did a transmission flush yourself considering you need an extremely expensive piece of machinery

Is it $89 for both? If so, its a good price from the dealer. Although they might only do a drain and fill for the tranny fluid at that price?

acura only recommends a drain and fill for the coolant and the tranny. so yes, they won't be "flushing" your systems. thats what i paid for my coolant service. if you have never done anything to the tranny, and its running fine, and your past about 40k miles, leave it alone.

Wow - given the fact that Honda Z-1 fluid is about $3.75 per quart, and a triple drain/fill takes 9 quarts, I guess they're throwing the labor and 6 quarts in for free!

You must have got that from Sterling McCall Acura b/c I got the same offer in my email. I wasn't sure either if it was a good deal or not. Thanks for posting it.

I just got a postcard in the mail today from the dealer that just replaced my tranny. They're offering a cooling system service for $49.95

The title of the service says "flush", but the description doesn't sound like a flush. It sounds more like a drain, and a refill. So, the price of $14 is only for a drain, and fill. And, of course, when I do it myself, I only do a drain and a refill. A flush would be better, but I don't think it is that crucial...your car, your choice.

Another comment about the price of being $3.75/quart for Honda transmission fluid. They ONLY use generic fluid.

Having said that, if you go there, and make your own decision. I am not related to these people, and I am not promoting them. All I am saying is that I used them, and how much I paid.

AM Car Repair
7490 Boone Road
Houston, TX 77072
281-933-2951

For more major repairs, I use these people. They're more competent, but more expensive as well. The AM Car Repair place can do easy maintenance jobs, but I trust these people a whole lot more for big stuff.

Guarantee Auto Transmission
7200 Boone Road
Houston, TX 77072
281-575-9210

You don't have to mention my name to get a special deal. Like I said, I do my maintenance myself 95% of the time, so I hardly go to these people. But, when my car needs work, and I don't know how to fix it, then I go to them. So, since I hardly go there, they won't even know who I am.

Good luck.

What's your Owner's Manual say? The '99 says 30K for severe duty, otherwise 90k.

If the fluid is low, add some.
