IMO, don't buy imitation intakes. Buy the real thing. AEM and Injen are all well known to be good products.

AEM! The difference between CAI and short ram is where each intake gets it's air from. Supposedly getting air from high up in the engine bay is not efficient because there is only hot air in there. But there is no true proof of this anyways until someone really conducts a test. But there was a test which showed the CAI lowering the tempature of the car at idle compared to the shortram. But at high speeds or just normal driving, both appear not to make much difference because air is constantly moving in there. If you want to see the test conclusions go to acura-cl.com and do a search...I would find it for you, but it is Monday and I am too lazy!

hey peiqinglong thx for the answer. i'll definitely check out acura-cl for the test. i was thinking the exact same way that when the car is moving the air going thru the filter will be cold anyways so yeah i can't see the diff btwn the stock filter and short ram...unless cuz of the shape or metal tubing it'll cool the air down more???

so u have a CAI as opposed to short ram...have u noticed a difference? intake of air below the engine even better? i need some testimonial that CAI is the choice over short ram.

oh and can someone explain the diff btwn polished and the coloured (silver, red, blue) CAIs??? just the way it looks?

From what I've heard and seen...shortrams tend to be louder and they produce good low end range because it takes shorter distance to get the air into the engine...but loses power on the mid to high range. The CAI on the other hand sucks (no pun intended) until you reach mid (VTEC) to higher end revs. As far as giving you "testimonial", that I can not do effectively enough due to the fact I know no one that runs a short ram on these cars. I do know you can make more sound with a shortram when barely accelerating...personally I rather go for the sleeper...quiet when just cruising but deadly when messed with! The polished looks just like metal basically...the biggest drawback to it is the fact it has swirl marks on it. The color ones have no advantage other than you can match your color scheme. But supposedly if you have adonized...it;s supposed to take heat to the surface quicker (think of ceramics). Hope this helps...

Not necessarily. If you look at the difference between the Injen and the AEM, you will notice different design. AEM has one extra bend than Injen. I don't know exactly how this affects anything, but according to people, supposedly the less bends the more efficent air can get to your engine. You may have to do a little research on that. Also note, the Xephyr CAIs had only one bend in them.

What you say may be true with most short rams, but I would have to disagree if you use Blitz. When I cruise, you can barely hear my short ram. But when I punch the throttle, the Blitz screams! Most people don't know I got a short ram until they hear me gun it or when I pop my hood.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong here...but if I remember what my friend was telling me...it's basically the method where they use special paint that is burned into the metal. The advantage to this is when the CAI gets really hot, the color will not fade. So when you buy a blue CAI...a year down the line, it's not gonna turn light blue on you something or start fading on you.

I stand corrected. I was just generalizing about short rams, but I will keep in mind about the Blitz.

It's actually spelled "anodized."

To save me from typing it all in, here is a company's website with some technical info.
