Good foglight bulbs after rewiring fogs
ok i did the foglight re-wiring thing....i like the out come. I already had some 80 watt bulbs in there, but i think to make the fog look good when its on with the corner light, the fogs need to be a bit brighter. I found an 100 watt 9005 bulb. right now im trying to cut the track on the inside of the bulb.... is this a good idea. Only reason im going this way is because i couldnt find and 9006 bulbs in 100 watt without going over 60 dollars. I found a spot in chinatown where got the 100watt 9005 bulbs for $15. I also bout the 9006 bulbs from there for $15. They last pretty well also..
Basically i wanted to know if modding the 100 watt 9005 bulb and installing it is a waste of time...and will it burn the wiring harness.. i had 80watt bulb in there for 3 months with no prob....

I'm not 100% sure... but I don't think putting a 9005 bulb in a 9006 socket is such a good idea. What you should do is look into PIAAs Superwhites or something. They are 60watts, but put out the equivalent of 100w or something along those lines..... probably safer...
That or just do an HID fog upgrade....

Good luck. I personally run 100watt highbeams and 80watt fogs. Initially I was scared to run it at that setup (in case of burn out) but now after HOURS and HOURS of continuous use I think they are ok. As for 100watt fogs...can't comment. Guess you are the guinea pig.
But...for future reference, the best bang for the buck bulbs I've seen are sold on showparts.com
They are certified to be 4200k and are sold at $15 a pair.
I personally tried these and the $5 "neon-blue ion" bulbs sold at autodynamic.com and trust me...the $5 bulbs are a waste of money.

if your going to run the 100w bulbs or any high wattage bulbs i suggest that you get the heavy duty harness kit for those lamps because they do burn hotter and draw more current then your old bulbs and im sure you dont want a melt down so do yourself a favor and invest a few more dollars in the harness and save yourself a big headache later.
If you wanna really improve the light output just get the hid kit and install that .......rite now there working on a group buy on this site for a hid kit for 375 or something with free shipping.

thanks for the comments... I tried installing the 9005 bulbs i cut down the grooves and all but for some reason when i put the bulb in the bulb started to bubble in like 10 seconds in. O well there goes my idea. But i do appreciate the help..Maybe i might just get the darn HID kit for the fogs. Thanks
