Hey DDubb
I'm looking at the Solaris or the AvantGarde4. What kind of installation cost are you being quoted? I'm told installation is a "full day" job that'll cost $400!

I went to Car Toys and got a pretty good deal. After intallation and everything I ended up spending around $600.00. They had to keep the car over night because the installer is having a hard time tapping into the power locks. I would say go with the Solaris.(that is if you want remote start)...
I don't think the AvantGarde 4 comes with remote start. Both are nice! Plus the Solaris comes with the G4 Technolgy too.

the a4 does have remote start as well as many more features than the solaris since it's top of the line! the real difference is that you don't get a lot of "wow" features on the solaris (headlight activation, extended power, wireless immobilizer, self-powred siren, etc) but it does have the basics. it can be considered more reliable since it's not so complicated to install. i'm looking into getting either of the two models for my v6 accord. i know a friend that works in this industry so i am getting a hookup on the a4 most likely! you just can't beat getting it comp'ed priced or at cost.

If you go with the A4, it might cost around 400 bucks because there is so much to install. I find some of the options on the A4 kind of over-zealous. Either models are cool. But if you want to try and stay away from a huge installation fee, I would go with the Solaris.

I know the solaris can be wired to work with your stock alarm.. can AvantGarde4 also be wired to work with your stock alarm?

what are some of the basic features that solaris and Avantgarde offer?

The Solaris is a lower range model when you compare it to the AvantGuard 4
The Solaris has Autostart for manual&autmatic cars. It has Remote Adjustable Dual Zone impact sensors. Its a Clifford IG7000 with Built-in Autostart.
The AvantGuard4 has everything Autostart Digital Tilt sensor, self powered back -up siren,Autolights & Raincheck, omnisensor I think window closure feature& some other things. They both come with Anticarjacking & Selectable Siren Duration, Remote Valet,Battery -Saving Mode with other features.
I have the Clifford IG8000 Dual Zone Proximity sensor with add-on like digital tilt & omni sensor, pager G4 back- up siren (ClifNet Port)

FTM-1, how much did all that cost you rougly... including installation. And also, do those clifford ones have the nice sounds when you disarm and arm the alarm. You know those nice "beep-beep" sounds when you press the button to open the car. Or is it like the standard viper ones. I know its a weird question but I think its nice when people open up their doors to like their beamers with a nice beeping sound.

The cost for my Clifford IG8000 was abot a little moe than $850 with tax. I got an extra companion remote so that put it above $900. I was unsure at the time about remote start but they can add that for $140.
The disarm alarm sound on mine is more of a soft clink sound. The arm sound is silent I have it set to autolock/arm. I don't push anything when I get out & shut the door.
The Cliffords also have that feature for RPM doorlock when the car get a certain speed the doors lock. The TL should have had this feature anyway

Do these alarms know to only open the drivers door on the first push of "unlock" and then open all doors on the second push?

Can the remotes be linked with the memory seat and mirrors of the CL (and the new TL?

No all doors will unlock &at the same time. I doubt that you can have the remote do that.It will Autostart the car & power the windows if you have them features.
The master remote will also let you adjust your cars sensors omni& proximity.

This was necessary to make it work with the built in car alarm system. Does this make any sense? I would imagine that you could find a "cleaner" way of doing this???
I think there is a way to do it. The coded key chip is needed to fool the Immobilizer.
I here they file the key part away.

Well I finally got the Solaris installed and I love it. I has everything that I needed and wanted. And just to clarify, the Solaris does come with a back up siren, and the Beep,Beep sound is pretty cool. It has a headlight beep to tell you that your lights are on when exiting your car. Another cool thing is when you turn the car off and take the key out of the ignition, there is still power to your windows, radio, and heat. I like this because often times I turn off the car and forget that one of my windows is down. Once I open the drivers door to exit, the car's power is completely shut off. There are many things about this alarm that are convenient. I highly recommend this alarm. Sorry for the long post...

You should still have power to your windows anyway. The power to your windows is on for 10min or untill you exit the car thats the safety feature on your car.
But you said you still have power to run radio&heat also thats strange.
How do you like the anticarjaking feature?

You mean the Black jack feature. I think it's pretty cool. I need to read more about it though. The reason why the heat and radio are still on after the ignition is turned off is so that you can adjust your temp before you get out of the car and turn your radio down. This is good too because sometimes I leave my system on and when I auto start it in the morning, it bumps really loud.
