Good body shop in NOVA area?!
Dohhh, was driving in to work today and I ended up scraping up my car really good. Didnt hit any other cars or anything bad like that, but the car took a real real bad scraping. Anyone know of any good body shops in the area? I'm assuming that the dealer wouldn't take care of this, they would probably only be able to send it off to someone else ... Will follow up with pics, maybe someone can estimate how much it will cost me
Here's the links to some pics that I took of the car ... The scratches on the door don't look too horrible, probably can get them with a little bit of touch up paint, but by the wheel looks awful, all of the paint is scraped off and there's a bit of a dent now because the passenger side door isn't flush anymore in 1 spot.

Someone please tell me this won't cost over $500 to fix
(Although I'm betting on it costing under $1000 to fix)

I would call the dealer you bought it from and ask them who does their work. Good luck Glad you didn't get hurt. After you get the work done take someone else with you to look at the car. They will help find things you missed.
Holy ****, I have the same scrapes as you, but nothing on the door. But the scrapes on the wheel well area are the same as mine. I just a got a quote from the shop, just for that area is going cost me 650+ In your case it will probably be more since they have to take care of the door too.
DAMN FVCKING SNOW!!
P.S. I will post my damage pics tonight.

LiQiCE -- Call D&V Autobody (703.478.9431). They're located in Chantilly, almost near South Riding. Ask for Ron or Kevin. They cost a little bit more but, do excellent work. I have taken my cars there many times. I've found them to be very honest, not slimy like other shops in the area......Pohanka even brings their cars to these guys. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. I called them and I'm going to bring it in tomorrow afternoon for an estimate.
Would this kindof damage be covered under my comprehensive coverage? Because I didn't hit anyone, all I did was hit a cement pillar. If it is, then my deductable is only $250, and even though it would raise my premium I'm sure, it might be better than paying out $1000 or more up front (which is what people seem to think it would cost) ... My collision deductable I believe is $500 which makes it more expensive for me (although according to a glossary I just found for Car insurance, it sounds like it would be collision).
BTW- TypeSDragon, that sucks, I'm sorry to hear about your mishap as well. I know how you must feel, I've felt awful all week long, especially when I go out to my car after work and have to look at the damage the whole time I'm walking

With any luck, both of us will have our cars looking as good as new in a week or two!!!!

LiQiCE,
No problem. Not sure if you're familiar w/the Chantilly area but, their shop is in the middle of BFE. Don't be alarmed they've been in business for quite a while and their work is superb. Hope it goes well.

99Hokie,
Not too familiar with the Chantilly area, but I got directions and I got the address (NAVI don't fail me now!) ... Now I just have to hope that the estimate doesn't cut into my food money

Well, I got a quote from D&V Autobody for $870
... The guys at D&V were very honest though and came across as doing really great work. They said they do mostly autobody repair but they also paint spoilers/bodykits so they match your car's color ... They told me the car would look 100% perfect, as good as it was the day I bought it ... if not better when they got it back to me. I would really like to go with them, but I have to talk to the insurance first...
The quote from the guys the dealer's work with was only $235 but they said that it wouldn't look stock, it would only be maybe 99% (which meant the dent would stay and they would only paint over the scratches) ...
I have a call in to my insurance company to see how much they would raise my premium for making a claim ... Since the claim is only $370 (after my $500 deductible) I would think the insurance wouldn't go up too much ... But we'll see I guess.

Yep, they're expensive but, you get what you pay for. Guess you have to make a judgement call whether it's worth it in the long run.

Hummmm ever try New Again Auto Apperance in SilverSpring MD? They are a full out import shop and have many modded cars on display they do it all auto body to engine mods. Oh whats the best acura dealer in the Metro area from sales and customer service.
Best Dealer
mr_luv -- I got my TL-S in Aug from Pohanka in Chantilly and was able to get it for just under invoice. Comparison shop between dealers and see who will give you the best deal. I did my haggling over the phone and was pleased with how pickup, paperwork, etc. was handled. I had my own financing so that may have helped but, I would definitely recommend them.

NOVA Body Shop
99 Hokie:
the only place i trust my vehicles for body work ( and I have had alot) is Browning Auto Body in Manassas on Route 28. They are family owned and have been around for at least 30 years.
Hope that helps

craigtl2000 -- I'm not real familiar w/Pohanka's body shop but, do know they send some of their cars to D&V for work. I think they subcontract a guy to do "touch-up" work in the lot behind Anitas also. Almost had him paint a lip for me until I realized he was working out of his truck in a parking lot......sketchy if you ask me.
99Hokie,
Yes you're correct, there's a few young guys behind Pohanka that do painting, and a guy called DentMaster or something like that that does dent work.
When I went to talk to them, Mr. "Dentmaster" told me that the dent I had in my wheel well was unfixable, but the paint guys might be able to fill it in ...
Wasn't too happy with their answer, so I currently have an appointment with D&V Autobody who said my car would look perfect

Well, I got my car back from D&V Autobody and I must say, when they said perfect they were right!!! It really does look PERFECT.
Will post some pics of the work next week ... (Right now the door molding is backordered from Acura and should be coming in on Monday) ...
Thanks for the recommendation on the shop!
Only thing I noticed is that all my quarters, dimes, and nickels in my coin holder were gone except for 1 each so it doesn't look like there were any missing (this isn't the red velvet coin holder, I'm talking about one that I use to organize my change). Not a big deal, and I probably should have been smart enough to put that kindof thing away but still sortof seems crappy.
