You can't say gold trim looks nasy on all cars. I happen to think it looks pretty good with firepepper red, and maybe black, but with silver it would not look good. Its more your taste, and afterall, people could steal it, and then you will be sorry.

We should talk to tire mfr's to make brown tires, it would match the color soooo good! Ya know, if I wear khaki's, I usually wear brown shoes...

Actually long story why I have a Gold TL and it was not my first choice of color... Anyway, the Black Chrome emblems look good to me. With nothing to compare it with (against chrome emblems) it looks sorta looks like chrome that is reflecting something dark. Side by side you can tell the difference. It also makes the car look less like an "old man's car." Bottom line, it's all a matter of taste.

My Naples Gold was my first choice of color. I had to wait a bit to get the "Naples Gold" with a Navigation. Silver would have been a close second choice in color. What Acura terms as "Naples Gold Metallic" is in fact a variation of Beige not truly Gold. The Sundance Gold with which the new CLS was introduced is in fact a nasty color, IMHO. The dealers in my area could not give those cars away.
However, having said this, I would not put on Gold trim to my car. Also, IMO, the "Naples Gold" is a truly aristocratic color....

I just picked up a TL and had some trouble deciding on the "ideal" color. I had my choices narrowed down to: black, silver, or gold. Naturally, I started to reason out the pros and cons of each choice.
Basically, black is too hard to keep clean. Even after a little rain, a black car is marred with little drops of dirt that even good wax cannot prevent. Also, this color car gets really hot in the summer.
Silver looks cool, but looked a little too much like "grey" for my tastes. I wish it had more of a metallic tint to it. Besides, every other car I see on the road these days is Silver.
Then comes Gold. The first thought that entered my mind was: "Here's an elegantly unique option for a change." It's easy to keep clean, and will stay cool in the hot summer sun. Not only that, it's such a beautiful color that it actually makes the car look like a much more expensive one.
Black and silver are too common these days. C'mon, you can see black and silver Civics any day. Only a priviledged few cars can look good in Gold, and the TL just happens to be one of them.
Oh yeah, regarding the myth that the Gold color is an old man's color: I'm 21 and I love it (as do the chicks).

Everything is stock for the moment
except for a big plush teddy bear in the back seat.

Black looks elegant when clean. But it has a funeral like look about it, IMHO. Also, I have seen too many Black cars (maybe not maintained well ?) that is starting to have an "aged" look even though they are just a few months old....too many swirl marks and the paint itself has lost much of its original lustre...too much maintenance for just a couple of hours of elegance...then back to the dirty look.
Also, if one were to paint the Civic or the Corolla in "Naples Gold", it would look tacked on....somehow this color does not "belong" in those sub-compacts....but in a large Mercedes/BMW/Lexus/Acura etc., it fits right in....
