Unhappy Going Synthetic

I'm sure that you guys will hate me for this, but time is money for me. So I have an '02 TLS w/ 36K miles and been thinking about going synthetic. There is no way I could do it my self, and I really don't know who to take it so I committed the ultimate sin.....

As you may have read in another thread, I had to drop my car at the dealer for warranty work. So this morning on the way I stopped at AutoZone and picked up a Mobile 1 oil filter (M1-104) and I gave it to the dealer and had them to put Mobile 1 synthetic 5w-30 in. I paid $11 for the filter and the dealer hit me for $67.79 for the oil change. I'm sure I could have saved going somewhere else, but like I said, no time.

Will I be banned from the forum for getting beat over the head? Did I really get beat over the head?

Well at least I know what to do for the next time. It was an impluse thing. I new I was getting violated, just didn't know how much. $40 bucks or so is not too too bad. I'll try to make it up by slowing down on the bar tab over the next few days.

well the good thing is is you shouldnt need a oil change for atleast 8000+ miles. i had my mobil 1 tested at 8k miles and there was alot of life left. and since then i have bumped it up to 12k intervals. and i have extreme driving

my car is ideling all day long it hits redline more times a day than i care to try to remember. lots of stop and go (and then autocross, and track racing gets mixed in in the summer) thats my extreme driving. the car usually only gets shut off for lunch and when im done working at the end of the day.

but extreme driving is usually under ...lots of stop and go, extreme enviroments.

When I pick my car up, I should immediately notice the difference or not. My mom has a '01 Lexus ES300 and sometimes you can't even tell that the car is running. Where is with my Ac, it doesn't quite purr like the Lex. Will the Syn oil change that.

I do realize that my TLS is a sportier/racier vehicle, but I was just wondering.

Nothing dramatic. BUt when you bring up the revs, you should notice that it is running smoother, mostly by the sound. The protesting growl will be diminished and it should sound like 6 cylinders singing in harmony. Or maybe I take this synthetic thing too seriously.

m-104 is the one for our cars BUT m-105 is an oversized filter that will fit our cars and could offer more filtering potential.

as for a differance in the cars preformance w/ your switch to syn. I did mine at about the same miles and the first time i started the car after the change(I prefill the filter) it started MUCH faster (turned over that is, still took as many rev to start but reved faster while starting if that makes sence)
