Given the VIN #

Thanks for everyone for the replies!
Other than the look-n-feel differences... given the VIN #, how can I "officially" find out, if a TL is '01 or '02? Do I need to contact the manufacturer? Anything that is written down under the hook or on the side of the door?
Thanks again!!!

You'll be able to tell the difference between an 01 and an 02 pretty easily. Look at the front bumper, dead giveaway.
But I have to ask...how would you not know the year of the car you are buying? Who did you buy it from? Whoever you bought it from has to disclose it to you.
Other than that, yes you could call Acura and they should be able to look up the VIN# for you.

Yes, one of the digits in the VIN indicates the year of manufacture, but I don't recall which. From memory, the VIN of my 02 TL-S ends with something like: 6923A012014.
The 69 indicates TL-S with nav (possible codes are 64-69 ?) and the 2 which follows indicates 2002. The 3 is a 'check' digit. The A indicates it was made in Ohio and the last 6 digits are the number of the car in the order it rolled off the assembly line.
I may have the '2' and '3' codes swapped above. The year should be 2 (2002), 1 (2001), 0 (2000), or ? (1999) [I don't think a 9 was used for that].

Thanks for the reply!
Yes, I got it from the dealer. -- with a price below "www.cardirect.com"'s -- without much negotiation. -- That made me a bit suspicious.
And yet, I do not have a '01 to compare side by side...
