Getting new exhaust?

well yea i have comptech axle back exhaust with comptech icebox and comptech headers

but the comptech exhaust is too quiet for my taste, i asked my frds to take my ride and not telling them about the exhaust, under normal driving in city they don't even know i have exhaust!!!

at high rpm it sounds great and loud, but in normal driving it's too quiet

now makes me want to get a set of exhaust that gives more sound, or should i just do a catback piping instead?

any suggestions?

You're crazy.

Didn't you just spend many weeks here getting opinions about a new exhaust prior to deciding on the Comptech..and then spent a few more weeks with issues re: the cans and tips and almost getting to the point of putting it up for sale and going with stock set-up cuz you were so frustrated and upset? ....And now you're not happy with it and want to change it again?? My advice would be to enjoy what you have for the time being and stop throwing out a ton of money on the car every month. Enjoy it! Be proud of it! Last you told me you'd already put way too much $$ into the car.

On topic though...I've been in TLs that have altered piping and exhausts and the owners eventually get annoyed and tired of the noise. Conversations are hard and long drives aren't so pleasant when you've got a rumble drowning you out all the time. Again though...just my personal opinion and the opinion of many friends with aftermarket/'loud'er exhausts.

back to the topic

i thought about catback but i know some of them are too loud at hwy spd, and i want sth in between my comptech and those loud ones

Apexi WS and neuspeed sounds great but wonder if they are any louder than my comptech, but by looking the comptech is still the best of all

wow.. i thought exhausts were just too loud in general.. but theyre quiet on the TL's?? what about you taking out those two resonators on the y-pipe? that would definitly make it alot more louder.. and massive droning at lower rpms.. its up to you

im planning on magnaflows.. the whole catback.. hopefully its not TOO loud.. i just want it to be noticeable, but not ricy.

I've got a Tanabe DTM exhaust on my civic and while it still sounds great, there are times where I'm literally sick of it. When I got my TL last month, everyone was asking me what mods I was gonna put on it. I'm putting a K&N filter on it and thats it! No exhaust, no headers, none of that shit that I've got on my civic. Been there, done that!! But go for what you know because in the end, you're the one that has to drive your car! Just my

Put some small 11" case magnaflows on the TL with some tips..that will get you a little more tone.

I have the CT axelbacks too. CT exhausts are quiet, but you'll appreciate that on long car rides. Loud exhausts will get old. I actually don't hear my exhaust at high RPMs.. they're loudest between like 1.5-3.5k RPM... I've actually adapted my driving in such a way that my exhausts is loud all the time

Apexi WSII is the way to go if you want louder. I have had mine on for over a month and I still absolutely love the sound. Here is the thread that I posted on my reaction to this exhaust and there are a couple vids too that I did, they are on page 3 and 4

Exactly. mufflers do very little for sound on our cars. most of the sound cancelation is in the large resonator. just remove that if you want more sound! just listen to my video of what teh comptech exhaust sounds like with out the resonators

http://www.acurainspired.com/gallery...=188&pid=33142

the other nice thing with the comptechs is with the quiet tips you can make it quieter in about 15 seconds

How long have you had them on? Mine seem to have gotten louder since I put them on last September. In the begining I thought it was too quiet, but now they have a nice deep tone that I can hear all the time. Especially after they warm up for about 10 min.

I have my axleback Magnaflows on for awhile now, and I think it's a bit too loud! I guess I'm used to the quiet OEM exhausts. BTW, I still have my factory resonators on. If you are going with catback, it will definitely be loud. You should look around and see who you know that has Magnaflows installed, and see if the exhaust tone is right for you or not.

I bought the Neuspeed exhaust system and that sucker was LOUD! I ended up having two resonator welded in to soften and muted the sound. But it's still noticably louder in the cabin when compare to stock.
My advice is to just keep the axel back. You'll appreciate it in the long run. If not, we can trade I bet you might like my system alot more than I do.

:o i know, but Neuspeed just have a better design. Beside think the problem has more to do with the lack of a resonator on the Neuspeed, thus creating massive cabin drone

( North side ) I had him do a cat back with 2 1/2 in pipes and magnaflow resonators and nice oval tips . I also have an inline resonator . He's a good guy and they do very nice resonable work . Come hear mine if your interested ....David gscot@sympatico.ca

IMO, Apexi WS II sound just perfect. Not too loud and not too quiet. Low deep rumble sound is around 1.8K to 2.5K rpm and when you press on gas pedal to accelerate. Under normal driving without acceleration on freeway and local street sound almost like stock, just a hair louder.

I could guaranty Apex sounds a lot louder than that. It doesn't look and sound like you have an exhaust. It looks stock =)

FYI, He has an axel back setup, essentially replacing the stock mufflers. Apexi and Neuspeed replaces all the pipings from the cat back. All catbacks will sound louder than any axel back setup.

Mine are axleback. Since I have a TL-S I saw no need to go with the catback.

hey, i think the same thing with my CT pipes..I have having a straight pipe welded back ffrom the headers, no resonators. I heard how the car sounds with no mufflers-sounded nice and throaty with the headers/intake, so i decided to go this route. i may pick a CT b pipe, but not too sure bout spending 400 when i can have it all done for 250..
