Thumbs down Getting Dealer Service Done on Saturdays

My dealer (David McDavid Acura of Plano, TX) irritates me for two different service issues:

1) Have to make appointments, like a week in advance. I know that's pretty much standard, but I still hate it.

2) They will not do anything remotely technical on a Saturday, just crap like oil changes and stuff. When I took my car in for squeaky seats they told me this. The service manager backed it up more than once.

Do the rest of you guys find this to be true, that you can't get a "real" problem diagnosed on the weekend?

I made an appointment yesterday (Thursday) for next friday. i wanted this weekend but they don't fix squeaky seats or moon roof rattling on the weekend. those are 'major repair's' thats what i've been told, so sounds like you scenario. Makes me wish we had a Park AVe. Acura here in Texas. those guys seem to love that dealership.

Most of the dealers around here do the same because they don't work with a full staff on the weekends an they only have 8 hrs to take care of every other lazy bastard who waits until Sat. Some even close on Saturdays during our winter. Just take a Friday off and have them give you a loaner.

Or take it to your local corner shop. Oh, wait...they can't fix that?

All dealerships I have been to, have this "problem".... only non-technical stuff like "oil changes" on a saturday. I think it would be wiser on their part to give Monday or something off for the "experts" and have them work on Saturday, since that is the day that is convenient for most customers to get their work done.

just my 2c

Well, Acura sucks that's all. You go to M-B you pay more and you get more. My friends drives a C320 and they gave him a ML320 as a loaner. He could kept the car until his C320 is fixed.

you could save 18 bucks? what the hell do they charge you? up here in nj at park ave acura they charge $23 which includes a wash and vacuum as well as a small gift(t-shirt, hat, etc)

as for working on saturdays i agree its more convenient but you got to think of those workers as well, everyone wants saturdays off to relax and get a ton of stuff done. so i dont mind going in during the week to drop my car off or wait for it or whatever

THE reason that they don't do service on the weekends is the fact that they don't have access to all the parts they need. They don't stock all the possible parts they will need for repairs so they either have to go to another dealer, or parts place to get them... HOWEVER, parts places that dealers use are usually always closed on weekends. In order for dealerships to perform the right kind of service, they will need correct parts, and that isn't just going to happen unless the parts places are open as well.

Most of the time, the weekends are spent getting cars ready to be turned over to the cust after they bought it.

My dad works his ASS off during the week putting in 10 hr days, he needs to be able to have days off and relax as well.
i second that motion, i also have family members in the business and i agree they should have time off just like the rest of the world
