I have noticed that when i floor my car, it shifts fine from 1st to 2nd but then when it hits red line in 2nd gear the needle continues and i can actually feel the rev limiter hit before it shifts into third , does this mean that my gears are slippin, it's been happening more often now, but other than that i have no problems with my tranny, should i be concerned?

 

well my tranny would go to 6500 from 1st to 2nd and make this real loud, flat noise. that was about 1000 miles before it started downshifting hard, and another 1000 miles till my tranny just stopped shifting all together. So i would have it looked at, BTW what year and mileage do you have? Are you still under warranty?

well i got about 82,000 miles on my 2000 tl-p , but our trans are covered untill 100,000, even if its not i have a aftermarket warrenty that covers me untill 100,000!

 

Sh*t, if its gonna be covered, take it in. Is it driveable for like a week or so? B/c if you do in fact need a new tranny, they will have to order one and it could take up to a week to get it, so i would suggest having them look at it, take a loaner for a day, get the news and keep your car while the tranny is on order. They wont do loaners for more than a couple of days, after that your enterprise, and that sucks a$$. So go ahead and take it in before you "accidently" let it get to 100k and you have to pay out the a$$ to get it fixed.
