Gear Shifting

Just want to know if I could eventually have a problem with the tranny if I use the trip regularly. I really enjoy using it but not at the expense of screwing up my transmission. Let me know.

Using the shifter is mainly for going up or down hills. This is ideal for keeping the car in the desired gear so you won't have to use your brakes or have the trans shift down when going up hill.

As for messing up your trans... I wouldn't shift excessivly.

WTF... It is called Sport-Shift as in sport driving as in high performance as in extreme and to the limits shifting... Read the manual, the transmission is equiped with grade-logic to take care of "keeping the car in the desired gear so you won't have to use your brakes". Why would you not want the gear to drop when going uphill is beyond me... If you take care (reasonable) of your car in every respect, your shifting (again, reasonable) habits should not affect the durability of your transmission. The problem with the tl transmissions is a design flaw that can creap its ugly head no matter if the car is driven in whichever mode (auto or ss). I use SS 90% of the time and lately have been feeling confident enough to turn off the VSA as soon as I power up the car... I already have a rebuilt put in and that happened even though I was running in auto 80% of the time.

Every case is different, however so fpique's 2 cents might be good advice for you. Personally, I paid good money for this ride and I intend to have some fun with it, which includes SS mode as much as I can...

I use SS all of the time. I think I drove the first 1000 miles or so in Auto and then started playing around with the SS. It's second nature now.
If the tranney is going to go, it's going to go.
