Hey guyz...what is that rectangular black thing on the right side of the gear indicator (rmp gauge)? Just got a 99TL and I don't have a manual. Thanks.

thats teh gear indicator for when your using Sport Shift mode

 

How do you use the sport shift mode?

 

dang you need to read the manual to learn about your car (cant believe you got the car and didnt know about this...) anyway, just put the car in drive (D4) and then push the shifter to the left in that slot. you can manually shift the gears now.

I'm sorry if I sound so ignorant. I also have an Odyssey and a 91 Accord so I pretty much know the functionality of the car (even w/o a manual) But this SS mode is different from the older Accord. The older Accord has a SS mode button.

these cars have many more features that you are probably not used to - like a cabin air filter (behind the glovebox)...things like that. But the SS in the Accord isnt anything like this - it only changed the shift points of the transmission, the SS in these cars allows you to control the gears without a clutch - not 100% like a real manual, but very close - so go drive it and have some more fun!
