gate shifting ...
gate shifting ...
hello all ... so lemme make sure i'm getting the most benefits out of gate shifting - basically, im revving up to right before 7k, letting off gas for approx. half a second, shifting into next gear, then immediately flooring it once shifted. definitely seems faster ... it basically is like its still in gear for like half a second after shifted & flooring it but then drops into next gear and seems pretty smooth. any input ?
You don't want to let the gas off, just upshift while floored at exactly 7K..
You aren't doing the trans any favors while letting the gas off, just enjoy the car while the trans last to its fullest...
cause as far as i can tell it seems like around 7200 it hits the rev limiter. & skirmich i thought the same thing but someone in another post was reffering to what i was doing as if it was right & 1 or 2 guys were like "yea thats perfect" - but what you're saying makes sense of course ... i just got some mis-information i guess
There is NO need to let off the gas, just shift to the next gear. Learn where the rev limiter is (you will NOT hurt anything by hitting it) and learn the time it takes to shift and when so that you are shifting just before the limiter hits.

+1 for sure ... i'm just learning & right away you feel the difference. in my car (4at) in d4 it shifts exactly when it hits redline. i can easily go about 5-600 rpm's above that gate shifting
i know you're serious, but if you meant that last part as a pun that's a good one lol
yea no doubt! we're talking about mostly for the drag strip, ...well at least i am haha can't speak for those speedy grocery getters!
