FYI: Interior switch and dash light bulb

FYI: If anyone want to replace any dash and switch light bulb you can buy the bulb from Radio Shack SUK#272-1092 they are $1.49 for 2. You will need to reuse the bulb housing, just take the old bulb out of the housing/holder, replace with the new bulb and cut the extra wire .

Acura will want $4 to $5 each. I blow 9 bulb in my car, save me some money. :P)

or you could save more money and make the interior lighting nicer by using LEDs instead of those ugly yellow/orange incandescant bulbs. buy a pack of 20 from any LED or lighting website.

but thats if you know how to work with LED's.

Yeh I actually tested a super bright LED with the clock but is not easy, plus you need to play with the position of the bulb to get things right. So I got lazy :Þ

Wel if anything interested here's the thing you need to get it to work.

3mm LED for the T1 size bulb (ex: dimmer switch, TCS switch sunroof...bla.. bla ... bla) and the 5mm for the T3 size (ex: clock, AC display screen and some bigger switch bla... bla... bla...). Since most LEDs use 3volt you will need a 470ohm chip resistor (not the big ass carbon resistor, you need the small one the one they use on PC board) per LED to change from 12 volt to 3 volt so is going to be hard work but not easy.

yup that would be correct sir. its not easy but its not too hard once you get used to it. just having a soldering pen handy and its pretty smooth sailing. a third and fourth hand with pliers might come in handy sincee those bulbs are tiny as hell

hey, I have an 02TLS w/navi and all of my HVAC controls lights (not the ones that light up when the button is pressed, but the ones that illuminate the display of the switch) went out one right after another. so I've been trying to search through the forums with no real luck but this post. i haven't taken the car apart yet to do the replacement, but i'd much rather spend the couple bucks at RS before I go to the dealer. I also haven't looked at the car close enough, but is there a post showing the necessary steps to removing the controls? I don't want to break anything and I am hesitant to just start prying at things. any information you all have would be extremely helpful.
