funny sound from rotors

I got some new rotors and brake pads, i was told that the new rotors didn't have to be cut, so i installed everything. It went fine for the first week, but now I'm starting to hear a slight grinding everytime I hit the brake...any ideas? It's definitely not the squealing you normally hear with new brake pads, sounds more like a rough grind....is it the rotors just smoothing out? Or should i be worried? it doesn't happen all the time, just every so often when I hit the brake.

what kind of rotors are they?? if its crossed drilled or slotted or both, its the sound of the pads being grinded by the holes and slots. if they are blanks, then i dont know...

i have xdrilled slotted rotors and everytime i brakke it makes that sound. i actually think it sounds awesome when i brake.

They are OEM rotors i got from the NAPA that my local dealership gets their parts from, they are blank rotors with bendix brake pads...I'm not sure what kind of sound you hear, but they're real annoying on my car...I know that pads need a break in period when they make squealing noises for a bit, but I'm not sure if this grinding noise is anything liek that...

take a look at the rotors. do you see any grinding marks or anything that shouldnt be on them? that sound is a common type sound with slotted rotors but not with blanks.
look to see if you can see any marks. they should sound and act just like the oem setup

Nope...no weird lines...as a matter of fact, the rotors look fine. They look like they've been wearing down just fine...that's funny, I never knew slotted rotors do that though...I like my brakes quiet as possible...don't think I could get used to it. So is this grinding supposed to eventually slow down when the rotors and pads break in? They are both new, pads and rotors. Also, maybe this is why it's grinding, but am i supposed to cut the rotors before I install even if they are new? I appreciate all the help people!

Mine made a grinding sound when i took my brakes apart... Did you tighten the bolts on the bracket and caliper? Check the caliper to see if it is in place... you might find it touching the wheel/rim

hmm...the caliper is on pretty snug...like the day i brought it in (except new pads and rotors of course)....I thought it may be grinding against the rim too, but no signs so far...any tests you guys know that I can try?

Bendix makes a pads that are semi-metallic or ceramic. Do you know which ones you got? I suspect the semi-metallic from the sound you are describing.

if ou install aftermarket pads on your honda/acura there will always be a noise when braking
if you install acura oem pads you should not have any noise if installed properly

funny...so i took everything apart and installed new wagner thermaquiet pads....it was fine for about 100 miles, then it started grinding again..i also notice on the inside of the passenger side rotor, there are two lines goind perfectly around the rotor like something is scratching it from the inside, but i took it all apart and nothing is touching and ther are no pebbles or anything lodged in between...so I'm stumped...the mechanic doesn't know and even the guy at the auto parts store didn't have a clue....any suspension/brake specialists here? I need your help! This is worrying me! I don't want my brand new rotors to be ruined from these scracthes before I even know what it is caused by!

go and invest in acura genuine pads and if you have factory rotors have them cut
if you have cross drilled or slotted they can be cut to but u need to find someone who knows how to cut crossdrilled rotors that way you dont need to invest in new rotors
but you can try and just install new acura oem pads and you should not have any noise
the 2 lines oon your rotors are from your old brake pads or when you installed new rotors dirt got inbetween the pad and rotors but usually thats from your old rotors if they are worn out to the max
i have a 00 tl with cross drilled all around with acura pads and the work great with no noise
