Ok so what kind of headlights or bulbs do we have for our 2nd gen TL??? The make and everything??

We use D2R bulbs, but D2C will fit also. Our headlights are made by Stanley i believe.

 

Brand new Morimoto 6000K D2S Bulbs

 

Get Phillips or Kaixen. You can find then on eBay for like $60.

 

make sure your friend understands these are more like the bulbs-ballast and ignitor system used on street lamp and parking light bulbs- expensive- bright~

ordinary cars have Halogen bulbs- the above system is called HID High Intensity Discharge.. and they are way more powerful- cant use regular bulbs in them

 

4300K is the stock color rating- most people replace with 5000, or go with even more blue 6000k
Always replace bulbs in pairs!

Well my boyfriend is a big hater on my car (probably cuz he has a srt4)... but everytime i tell him sumthin bout the car he tries to deny it lool.
I told him they were 4300k hids n he said they are crap their not even bright (he has 8000k hids on his) he said i must have lowwww grade hids and I told him they were only stock n he keeps tellin me to go get some real hids and i will c the difference...
He is jus hatin cause he knows my car gonna last wayyy longer than his lol... but he has only seen my headlights wen i first bought the car... i had just recently restored my headlights with the buffer and they look sooooo much better so Idk if that will make them brighter lol... <---- wat a noob..

 

It'll be brighter cause the lens is more clear and can be projected further. Tell him to meet you on a dark ass road and turn on each at a time and see who's brighter.

 

Sorry your BF is a idiot and is misinformed. The higher the K does not mean its brighter or better, but on the contrary his have less usable light than yours so yours are superior.

 

Tell your BF to hop off, his car is what a 5-speed and his redline is still at 6.5k? FAILURE. Back on topic, are headlights are nice and I do need to also buff mine =).

 

EH...Id put money that srt-4 would spank just about any (if all) stock 2g TL... and not too sure what a transmission has to do with changing an engines redline?

but yeah, far as headlights go-4300K is the best temp for headlights. Anything higher than ~6000 will cause eye strain. There is a HUGE thread on this somewhere...

 

I may be mistaken by a regular honda civic AT redlines at 6.5 and the 5speeds or 6speed si is at 8k? IDK=\, it could just the SI does that lol.

Yeah his SRT-4 would spank the TL, but it's ugly either way, and it's turboed out of the factory, turbo the TL and we would be talking.

Yeah i told him he needs to hop off but he's been modding his car and i havnt done sh*t 2 mine.... so he rubs it in my face that my car is lame n yu cant mod it its way 2 luxury.... it jus seems like everything is just ugh on my car compares to his in his eyes.... but i like the srt tho i think it looks nice and sounds good... but im gonna do sum stuff 2 my car that will have him change his mind completely n wanting to drive mine instead... but yeah he has the srt4 neon.. i think the caliber is str8 tho also... I was thinking about doing 8k hids before i got the car but now that i got the car idk because i got FPR n idk bout the red n blue together cuz i wanna do more of the red n black theme so the blue might be to much... so i think im going to stay more to the brighter white side but i would like to change the headlights to halos or black housings im not sure which way to lean

 

the civic redlines the same with either transmission ...both cars have the same exact engine (unless youre comparing two different models ie: Si to LX)

The neon has a 4 banger also. Sure if you put a turbo on a v6 its gonna make more power..lol


I meant a stock as bought from the factory TL. Sure one with a 6mt swap will run better, but low 14's? Not trying to call you a liar but I find it hard to believe our pigs can improve that much just by swapping trannies. Which brings me to the next point-the srt-4 Neon is 800+ lbs lighter than the TL, so you know its going to hop off the line much quicker. Weight plays a huge factor in 1/4 mile times...

Stock TL-S run what high 14's right? Stock srt-4 run high 13's...

And yes the Caliber is ghey...even in srt-4 trim..

you wont see any non-pro drivers running sub 14's in the srt-4 stock.

and yes.. 6mt makes THAT much difference.. i think even on the 3rd gen its as much as almost an entire second... bringing the TL-S auto from 14.7-14.9 with a 5AT down .5, .6 of a second with a 6 speed is very reasonable i think.

fsttyms1 wanna chime in? i know your a track guy but you have better insight then i do on the power it can pull.

so a TL-S 6spd would hang with, if not beat a stock srt-4 in the quarter.. weight is a big advantage on the jump.. but whp and gearing come into play afterwards...

most sites have the srt rated at 14.1-14.2.... very few have them at 13.9..
check out the racing and competition section.. there's even AV6 6 speeds running sub 14's with hardly any bolt ons at all... and they run the j30 motor

 

I know of several srt neons that ran high 13's, and these dudes were just everyday joes like us. I used to bang out some damn good quarter times with my T/A when it was 6mt-not a pro driver by any means but doesnt mean I couldnt drive.

Im just sayin...not trying to argue-just because you looked some times up on the net doesnt mean its out of the realm of possibility. Im also willing to bet that a 5at 2g tls would run high 14's on a GOOD day, not average. My car runs decent, but Id be willing to bet conditions would have to be right to get those numbers.

But anyways-we all have opinions. We could have this hypothetical race discussion until the cows come home, lol.
