funny noise....
10 seconds after i put my car in drive (after starting my car) there is this funny "loading" sound that last for about a second....then the loading sound can come back again for a second time a few seconds after. But after that there isn't anything wrong. THe car only has 300 miles on it...has anyone had this problem? I'll be bring it in to have to hear the sound but my dad thinks its a computer problem and not an engine problem....man..i didnt' expect to bring my car in at 300 miles....let me know if anyone has heard this type of noise...
sorry the description of the sound is not clear..hard to explain....

YOU CAN RELAX... IT'S NORMAL.
If what you hear is a brief "growl" type sound coming from under the engine near the wheels... it's the antilock brake system doing a system check. This happens every time you start the engine COLD and put it in gear and drive for the first time. After the car rolls a few yards it makes this growl for a second or so to test and reset the braking and VSA system.
It sounds like this is what you are describing. If so, relax... it's normal. YOU CAN TAKE A BIG SIGH OF RELIEF. You get used to it after a while and forget to notice it... I'm sure others will confirm this phenomenon and have better explanations. But I think this is what you are experiencing.
I think the owners manual even talks about it... If this doesn't sound like your situation, then perhaps you can better describe it...
Hope this just made you feel better!

Yeah, it's a kind of growl/grind grrrrrr/brrrrr/errrrrrrr type of sound that you can also feel as a slight vibration. It lasts for a good second or so. Yes, it's loud enough that your passengers would be able to hear it also. This has to be what you are experiencing. I always have my music turned up fairly loud, and I don't hear or notice it then... but every morning when I pull away from the garage it buzzes me. It seems to come predominently from the right front side of the engine and wheel area. This is also where all the ABS brake lines and controls are mounted.
Look on the bright side... It's actually a good thing to have the ABS system do a self test before you hit the road... It could save your life when the tranny jumps from 5th to 2nd gear while on the freeway!
