Fuel injector Cleaner

I have been reading that our TL-S need some fuel injector cleaner in order to help the car run smooth?

Well I have noticed that my car does idle a bit rough...what fuel injector cleaner do you ppl recommend? Keep in mind that I'm in Canada, and some types are not available...

also, where do I inject this fuel injector stuff? Do I put it right into my gas tank where the gas goes?

I use Cheveron Techron from time to time. Put it into the gas tank. I pick it up at my local Autobarn. Usually found in most auto parts stores. Don't know about Toronto though.

1) i would say no as long as u follow the instruction on the bottle.

2) i believe that every manufacter recommend to fill the cleaner up in a nearly empty tank & then fill up the gas.

for performance, i would say that u can feel a difference for the first 3 to 4 tanks, more smooth acceleration.

for brands, there are 3 major brands which have a good reputation & which is redline, chrevon, & grease lightning. i believe that u'll have no problems getting redline in toronto.

I use Redline on my TLs, I was surprised, The first thing I noticed was the incress in gass milage. Read the lable, Just because it comes in a small bottle, doesn`t mean use the whole bottle. Most recomend once every oil change.

well I spoke to my dad about this fuel injector cleaner, and he claims he's put this stuff in his tank 3 times, and all three times is totally screwed up the engine in the car. He said the most obvious sign of puttinf fuel injector cleaner in the tank is having black smoke coming out of your exhaust.

I'm a little reluctant to add this to my tank, seeing as there's no turning back if it screws up the car.

Does the manufacturer (acura) suggest we use this in our cars?

I've logged hundreds of thousands of miles on my cars in the past, and I've always used fuel injector cleaner about every oil change. I've never noticed black smoke from any tailpipe when I had fuel injector cleaner in the car.

Then again, perhaps people tend to gun it a bit more when they put fuel injector cleaner in and that could put out a puff of black smoke - but it wouldn't be big enough that the driver would see it.

I've never had a fuel-related problem in any car (racked up 105k miles on my old Altima), and never had to get my injectors cleaned at a dealership. Go ahead and do it.

I've used Techron for years with good results. I've never had my injectors cleaned by any dealer as they really didn't need it. I use a bottle every 7,500 miles, and simply follow the direction on the label of the bottle...

the Chevron Techron is good stuff, I've been putting it in all my cars for years, every 3K miles or so. On my talon, with 130K miles when I took the head of the car last year the valves were pretty clean, & my injectors always flowed well. Although today's gasolines have additives & cleaners in them I still think the Techron is worth it ever now & then.

I just buy the Chevron gas with the techron already in it, no need to buy more.

What happened ? Been using Chev Tech for years without any probs. Like everyone noted, just follow directions on the bottle.

I've used Chevron Techron, and I felt little or no difference...BUT there is hope...BGK44 from dealerships made a difference. No black smoke. Check out their website, they have tons of products to clean the engine, etc. It is a bit pricey, but I think it is worth it...

All this fuel injector cleaner talk forced me to track down some BG44K. They sell it at the local Nissan dealership (Classic Nissan - for you locals) for about $10.50 (including tax).

This ought to be interesting...
