Unhappy Fuel Gauge Problem

Mine only goes 3/4 even the tank is completely full. Anybody experienced problem with the fuel gauge on their 99TL?
What type of repair will they do at the dealership to have this fixed?

Anybody?

Poor ground wire can cause the problem. Most likely due to poor connection at fuel gauge/fuel pump connector near tank or ground wire to body near tank. You haven't added an amp have you? If you connected the ground to the same point, this can cause the problem.

This happened to me once about one month ago. I was dring on "E" almost at the bottom of the tank because I knew there are a couple of gallons even when the light was on. I finally pulled over and filled the tank completely WHILE MY CAR WAS ON. I imediatly noticed my needle only went to 3/4. Run the tank near empty then fill the tank after the car is shut off and it should go away.

There was a service bulletin for that. they will install a new gauge under warranty and that remedies the problem..

Shoofin's right, I had mine fixed under warranty. It's not a big deal.

I had something like this happen on my 94 Accord.I had the car about 3yrs then I got gas one time & guage did not go past full mark.I then waited untill the next fill up to make sure car was full of gas.I took car to the dealership then told them it was full they replaced the FUEL REGULATETOR under warranty. That was under a TSB also.

Mine just started doing it too! I will fill up and take it in to see what they can do. Gotta go in for other warranty work anyways...

Count me in! I've got the same problem with my '99 TL. At first the gauge never showed full until I went about 40-50 miles, but now it never gets higher than 3/4 tank. When it gets down to about 1/2 tank, it bounces above and below the halway mark for awhile until it decides to stay below halfway mark. I'll take it in for warranty service when something else goes wrong. I am about an hour from my dealer.

My 99 TL is have the same problem. I thought I was just not filling it all the way. I'm not too worried about it, but it's good to see I'm not alone.

Take your TL's in for service at the next opportunity there is a year old bullitin regarding this problem. What is required is a new float and sensor assembly in the gas tank.Do the service department a kindness and make sure your trunk is empty of personal belongings as the access cover for the sensor is located in the trunk floor. The cause of this problem appears to be certain additives in some brands of gasoline.Apparently the additives are damaging the sensor used to determine fuel level.
