Fuel gauge acting weird
Well, I just topped off Monday evening and my gauge is about 4 lower from the top...when I filled it up the gauge goes all the way up working normally, then when I drove from work to home (12miles) the next morning the gauge was lower 1( the small white dots on the gauge) My gauge NOW is at almost half tank...and its only been 3 days driving work/home and home/work.
I have checked for leaks and none found...there is no signs of gas smile coming from anywhere!
Has anyone had this problem? I know the fuel filter is located in the tank. Could that be an issue? Any help or advice?

when you say TOP OFF does that mean you added fuel beyond the first auto shut off of the fueling nozzle?

did the gallons it took to fill the tank seem normal at the time? Or maybe the pump shut off early?
If you want to clean the filter sock inside the tank- add seafoam 1 pint can to 1/4 tank of gas to clean stuck sender and make the car run way better

Mine does this too. Noticed it just after the new tranny replacement from dealer. The top half of the tank "burns" much faster than the bottom according to the gauge, however I bet you get the same mileage as before noticing the problem. Have you had any work done recently?

most cars ~use~ very little gas on the first half- then suck down the rest-
Its not real though- just how guages and tank shapes work,
then the eternal question of: Is the guage calibrated for hot exhaust pipes next to the tank causing fuel to expand and thus raise the needle higher?

My 99's fuel gauge has never worked quite right. Sometime when I fill up it doesn't show that it's full. Yes, I did top it off. Other times the guage shows much lower amounts of fuel than what's in the tank. Perhaps yours was made on the same day as mine! LOL

all you have to do is drain and remove the gas tank- then the filter sock is inside that- protectig the fuel pump
Dont even think about doing that!!
Seafoam- look at my avatar- thats a can of the stuff- ask for it at parts store
next to the other fuel cleaners-
see DIY section for instructions- but for this use- add 1 pint/ 8 oz. $7 can to the fuel tank when you have about 4 gallons, 1/4 tank gas remaining then drive

So have you figured out your mileage or are you just going by the assumption that its not right? If its at half how much does it take to fill
And no the filter has nothing to do with it

The fuel sensor sending unit on the pump is more than likely gunked up. This seems to be a common problem with our TL's. If anyone has bought there TL brand spankin' new ..........how about letting us know if this has been an inherent issue since newly purchased @ zero miles ! It does seem like the top 1/2 evaporates, while the last half will be more concentrated. Probably the relative humidty having an effect on the tank's internal atmospheric pressure ! Or maybe it's the new "corn" based fuels, who knows ?

if you ~believe~ there is a recall action on a part of your car- you can look it up online with the NTSB, thru your acura.com account, or calling acura at 1-800-382-2238 x5
Its not the Humidity-its the stupidity
Gas guages are not like the days of old, tanks are far from square shaped containers, exhaust pipe heat can change readings, and the ever popular gunk from gasoline!
Run a can of Seafoam in the tank when its down to 1/4 tank, that gives strong cleaning action to all the parts and the injectors- makes em spray more better
Corn gas is still years away, all ~they~ wanted to do was destroy the mexican tortilla economy and prop up govt farm subsidies to big bizness in the usa.
