Front Seat Removal to Avoid SRS light

I've been searching for a while now and can't find a clear cut answer.

If I plan to install a small amp under my front passenger seat, would this process avoid getting an SRS light error. Amp is 2" tall, 10" wide, 10" long..not sure if it will even fit...if not, I'm mounting it to sub box....

1. Move seat all the way forward and remove caps and bolts
2. Move seat all the way back and remove caps and bolts
3. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect regular wire harness
4. LEAVE THE YELLOW WIRE HARNESS ALONE since its for the side airbag
5. Remove Seat
6. Place amp in desired location, put seat back in for quick clearance test without bolting back down.
7. With seat loose and reconnected to wire harness, lean it forward (if poss) so that I can make adjustments to amp.
8. Hook up negative battery cable back on battery
9. Make all necessary amp adjustments with car running to prevent battery run down.
10. Finish adjustments and screw down amp and bolt the seat back down
11. Hopefully no SRS light??

Or, is there a much simpler way of preventing the SRS light from coming on?? I hate going into the dealership!

Let me know y'all..thanks!!

I think you should be fine. I am pretty sure that unplugging the harness under the seat without disconnecting the battery is what triggers the SRS light.

Just disconnect the battery first Before disconnecting the yellow cable, then do it. You wont have to worry about the light then. I VERY VERY HIGHLY doubt it will fit. There isnt much clearance under there.

Thanks Kris, the amp is only 2 inches tall, so it might.

But, I think I have a better idea. I found a dvd player bracket at Lowes that is designed to hang from the bottom of a wall mount tv stand. I placed the bracket on the far right side of the trunk. On the opposite side of my Navigation Unit that is bolted to the same part of the trunk frame.

There is a part of the trunk frame with little holes and it looks like it will mount perfectly there. I will have to drill some holes in the bracket and use some good size bolts to keep it stable, but the amp will be up out of the way and will allow me to disconnect my sub quickly if I have to remove the box. I was going to mount the amp to the back of the box, but I thought this would be a nice custom amp mount setup. We'll see how it goes.

Good luck. If it all turns out how you want it to, you should have a nice and clean set up! Take many pics.
