front license plate frame

i was wondering on the 02-03 models if the front license plate frame bolted onto the bumper so if you took it off there would be no holes or would there be holes that are suppose to be there.. i am wondering because i just got the car fixed after an accident and the bolted the whole license plate completely to the bumper so if i tried to take the frame off there would be two holes... thanks in advanced

There shouldn't be any holes in the bumper it self. The plate frame attaches under the bumper with two 10mm bolts. Some people/dealerships do drill into the bumper.

I just had my front bumper repaired (a driver of a Dodge truck backed into me at an intersection). I haven't put the frame on yet since I want to make sure the paint cures. The bracket can have a tendency to rub against the bumper if it's pushed up against the bumper. Any slight pressure could cause possible irreversible indentations in the fresh paint on the bumper.

Yeah, I would just leave it off. I've been lucky so far with the cops here in NY, but the plate causes damage to the bumper.

It differs from area to area. I had one a few years ago and it was 50 or 60 bucks. I recently took mine off and there were holes, but i used touch up paint on the insides of the holes so its a quick fix until i can do it right. I havent had TOO much trouble from the po po yet. lol.

when they fill up the holes can you see them or what? do they put in some kind of rubber then they sand it down and repaint the bumper or is it different?

Alternately, Flip the plate holder and use a longer 10mm bolt and you will have the plate under the bumper.
