Front License Plate!!!

I read a few thread in here but couldn't find my answer. I just bought a car and it is originally from another state that doesn't require a front license plate. So everything is original on the front bumper( no holes or license plate holder ).

Now my state(MD) require a front plate :=(......retarded. Do I have to buy a license plate holder...or is there a way around it? I though you only need some screws but I couldn't find where you can screw it.

buy one from the dealer...its not too much. it screws underneath the bumper...thats why there are no holes on the bumper.

Here in MO they require one too, but I don't have one.

in my opinion, why tempt fate?? if you have other illegal stuff, then i'm sure the cop will be lookin to give you tix for other BS infractions if he stops you b/c of the plate.

I had my front plate off for two months, never got pulled over or anything for it. I put it back on this past Monday, because having 18% tint here in CO is a surefire way to get a ticket, add on no front plate... you can see where I'm going.

Like TLover said, the license plate mounts from underneath the bumper w/ the use of a special license plate holder that has a L-type bracket/bend. No visible screw holes! If you get down and rub your hands under the pointy part of the center of the bumper... you'll feel the holes and the metal clips. Best bet is to just go to the dealer and buy one. My shop manual doesn't list anything specific and I couldn't find the part number on Acura OEM Parts.

Because the license plate is on a mount, it sticks out from the lines of the bumper quite abit.. making it very ugly.

All I did was took the metal strapping (that you'd usually get w/ an aftermarket radio) bent them and opened one end of holes to accomodate the license plate bolts and bolted it to the bumper. I do agree most cars do look a lot better w/o the plates and/or the bracket frame but where I'm from (California), having a modified Japanese car gets you looks from the cops. I'd rather have it on and have one less thing to be pulled over for.

My friend who's got an '01 MR-S is being stubborn and doesn't want to put his on, but there's a big legitimate reason why....the bumper doesn't have a huge "hole" in the front making any airflow that's there be not blocked by anything....

Go to Lowe or Home Depot and buy a pack of clear window suction things and inserted into the plate and mounted on windshield just above the dash high enuff so it become visible. installation take less than a minute, and couple of seconds to remove. I've done this for 3 years and no questions ask... and if you get asked, just tell em that you hit some kind of animals..like a racoon or El Cupacabbra or something...and it cause damages to your bracket. But anyway the most important thing is that you made an attempt to display your front license plate. And you also have the options to put on it or take down whenever you so choose.

It figures that is who would give you a ticket! I don't venture into the city too often, but I live in Greenwood Village, and well they have to pay for all of their nice stuff someway, not worth the risk to me anymore.

Leave it off. I used to live in a state that required it and took off the bracket/plate and kept the plate portion in the car. When I parked on city streets, I'd throw it in the front corner of the window because they would issue tickets for no front plate when parked. Not a perfect solution, but worked for me!

Now, I'm in a state that doesn't require a front plate...thank the Lord!!

Leave it off. I live in Cali and got pulled over for speeding. Cop just told me to put one on but didn't give me a ticket. Worst they can do is give you a fix it ticket and then if you want you could put one on. The car looks so much cleaner without it tho so I'm willin to risk it

As a student, I have options for where to register my car. One of the reasons I chose Arizona is the lack of a front plate.
