Front Hub failure causing me to eat wheel bearings??

Hey Guys I replaced my 2 front wheel bearings 3 times now with OEM parts and after 15k they all have been staring to make the failure noise at 40mph. Can a faulty hub have anything to do with my car going through wheel bearings like crazy and how can i diagnose a faulty front hub?? There is no side to side noise just a constant howl that comes from both sides as speed increases.

Hi MOBB,

I see in your avatar you are lowered, is your camber within spec? That will eat wheel bearings to death if the weight of the car isn't centered correctly. Have it checked if you haven't already.

whats your alignment like- does it hold an alignment--ever get one done,?,,

car ever been curb slapped? = damage to hub..a little edge dent in the bearing race would wear out new parts quickly

damage to rim or outside part of tires are an indictor of that

I've never incurred damage to the hub, the bearings were always pressed in by a shop. I've noticed my rotors get warped extremely fast with a violent shake after only 15k of installing them my last set gave similar mileage. Aligment was done 2 months ago holds aligment great. Car has 160k could the hubs be out Of round since they are the originals??? That's the only thought I have now.

If it is the same shop they may be installing them wrong or damaging the races when pressing in.

It is easy to damage the bearings if they are not pressed in properly. Also, they must be properly packed with a good bearing grease. The grease from the factory bearing is never enough.

Ok, i will try to bring it into a different shop to get the bearings in. Can a defective hub also be causing the issue? Because I have a VERY violent shake while braking from my new Centric CYRO treated rotors only after 15k!

Just remember. Abusing brakes or panic stopping frequently, or extended braking going down mountains contributes to warpage, improperly installed lugnuts, improperly torqued lugnuts all can cause rotor warpage.
Is it just one rotor warping? Or is it both?

I am having the same problem but today i found out it is mu hub that is bent on one side and I also have a bent axle.

it have been driving me crazy, new tires (4), new brakes (4), new rotors (4), alignments and still the ride has never been smooth. I hope after i replace the hub and axles, ball joint while i am at it, it will ride like new???

Only question is can i do the job my self????
I can find a posting for r&r the front hub on a 2003 tl
Thanks for the posting

It's best to replace the hubs when replacing the bearings. They can distort and gall when being pressed - especially if done multiple times.
